Re: It's Saturday
Morning Jan & Jane and all who follow. I couldn't make up my mind whether we had just had a very heavy frost or a flurry of snow last night Everything is very white - I went out to the bottom of the garden to take some photos when I let Molly out this morning Havent looked at the pictures yet. No plans as yet as to what we are doing today. Hope you all have a good day, stay warm, and hope the bugs are killed off in this weather too

Got the cooking bug
Think I'll stay in the warm today. 5 minutes taking pictures in the garden was enough!
Made loads of cards and ATCs last week so time for another tidy in the craft room!
Been cooking this morning - lamb shanks in the slow cooker to be served with lemon and roast vegetrable cous-cous tonight and a nice big stir fry with chicken breasts for lunch. Had porridge with fruit and almonds + scrambled egg and smoked salmon for breakfast. Making some cranberry and blueberry buttermilk pancakes later for a treat. Enjoyed our lliver and bacon skewers with mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli last night.
Might wrap up and go for a walk later............

Can't believe you are still losing weight Jane after eating that much in one day Go for a walk I don't think I would be able to stand up even after eating all that

me too. I just couldn't eat more than one proper meal a day, I would be so uncomfortable. I just had a small bowl of cereal and an orange juice for breakfast, about to have 1 round of sandwiches for lunch and haven't even thought of dinner yet. May do chicken breast with salad after my weight gain Martin doesnt put on weight and his cholestrol is excellent so it doesnt matter what he eats so will give him chips or jacket potato with his. I shouldn't eat chocolate with my cholestrol so have got to be good now
Re: It's Saturday
Just thought I would show you the Goldcrest Firecrest that Mike saw when he was out, so pretty with his little golden mohican

The lamb shanks will make 2 meals when I take the meat off the bone and the chicken breasts are small. Yesterday's liver cost just 60p and with 2 lean rashers of bacon with fat trimmed off there was plenty for 2. Breakfast was a small bowl of porridge made with water and the 2 scrambled eggs had just half a packet of smoked salmon bits (88p) between us.
This diet works best by having 3 small meals a day and 2 snacks (eg. fat free yogurt, bran crispbread with low fat cheese or cottage cheese, a hard boiled egg, etc)
It sounds as though we're having a lot but the portions are quite small, there's lots of variety and plenty of veggies. On non-meat days I fill up with pasta/rice or cous-cous based dishes. No added fats (spay light for cooking) and I only have bread once a week.
I used to only have 1 meal a day but my metabolism slowed down so much I didn't lose anything.

Love the goldcrest photos Jan, you hubby is a very clever photographer. I've got my SLR now but would never be able to get close enough to take a photo like that Will have to get a telephoto lens I was really pleased with my woodlark but had to take about 8 photos gradually creeping up on him until he flew away. Then I had to crop the picture to actually see him I can see I am going to have to practice a lot at this
Re: It's Saturday
Mike said the goldcrest wasn't bothered by him being there at all, he was flitting around in the bushes getting on with his daily chores and Mike was about a metre away but he just wasn't bothered. Mike has only got a Fuji S5700 it's a fixed lens camera and was just lucky that the Goldcrest was more interested in filling his belly than worrying about some human interrupting him
Oops it's a Firecrest not a Goldcrest got it in my head and just ran with it

Re: It's Saturday
Evening ladies. Spent the morning running (well driving!) around after Roy after plumber had been. He's gone down with 'flu now!!!!(Roy that is not the plumber!) and is feeling very sorry for himself. In between putting loads of washing in have managed to make one small card and half an ATC and my room looks as though a bomb has hit it! Off to make something to eat now. We had planned an Indian takeaway but his lordship doesn't feel like eating anything - so I'm off to search the freezer.
Re: It's Saturday

They did say it was an A5 storage holder Janette. Hope the sale goes well tomorrow.
Re: It's Saturday
Evening everyone. Great photo of the bird. I'd love to be able to take photos like that.
It's been freezing cold all day here today. We woke up to a light covering of snow and white trees. I had to scrape the car to take my eldest to the bus stop for her Junior Strings orchestra. I've not done much else except try to keep warm.
Have a good evening whatever you are doing
