Ribbon storage, take 2
Haven't made it but just had a thought about storing lengths of ribbon, what about in poly pockets?
maybe wrap the ribbon around a piece of card stock and slide it into a polypocket and it will be kept neat and clean in a folder, could fix it in place with low tack tape or like me you might have some mini clothes pegs that where supposed to be embellishments that you have never used, think mine have got Christmas trees on them

I've currently got mine in one of those 12 x 12 really useful storage boxes while I think on it he he I'm eating peanuts like its gone out of fashion too to get the wider tubes for larger ribbon spools he he - do you think my dr will accept it as an excuse for not losing weight this month he he

Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
They look very nice, especially when full of ribbons but how practical are they, wont it all just end up as a jumbled mess
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
I was wondering the same thing Jan, but may have an old cheepie toilet bag that I can try it out with. Trouble is I have to hunt it out first he he. The other thing I wondered is if the ribbons get dirty being out like that all the time ? hmmm ok who's going to be the first to try it out
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
Plus how do you punch the holes so they are neat, I'm not sure I have the patience to sit and punch 200 odd holes in plastic anyway without going more gaga than I am already
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
Don't think it would be any use for the wide ribbons either as the holes are small. I have just spent ages looking for my old bag and it's nowhere to be found. I think I must have thrown it Will have to see if I can find a cheap one in town. ot the week to myself next week as Martin will be in Spain with his golfing friends
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
Cool party time we can all get together and punch 10 or so holes each hehe
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
I saw this last year but didn't really care for the price!
So i bought a bag looking very very very similar from Peacocks and it had 2 others with it (which i gave as pressies)! £6
I made the holes with a hot knitting needle, lots of them and then filled it
If i was more techie and could post pics I would though I do have them on another site, if anyone wants to see i could pm of course.
And NO they don't tangle and stay dustfree

Great idea the hot knitting needle Can you PM me the link of the photo please and then I'll post it on here for you
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
I've sorted out my free ribbon holder I'll do the photo tomorrow as its too dark now, obviously at almost 9pm he he I used one of the large Daz plastic containers drilled holes all around and filed the rough edges down. I think that next time I'll put less holes in as I had more holes than the space inside could hold he he It works though and it matches the small ones that I use to keep dried flowers in, I have 6 of those to hold different coloured flowers With the same paper on the sides as I've used to cover the boxes and cartons
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
Bought a fresh soup this week in a plastic container and I have punched holes in that with the Big Bite and it is ideal for holding all my very narrow ribbons which I usually buy in 3m lengths. Good idea drilling the holes Jen. They would be bigger for the wider ribbons Looking forward to seeing it.
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
Here it is along with photos of my craft room / dining room I have not cleaned it up so please excuse the mess which Tash and I have created he he
I need to rearrange the ribbons as I made the mistake of filling one side first rather than all the low level ones first and working my way up. I do need another one for the other colour range of red, orange, yellow, cream, white, black and brown ribbons so guess I'll be nagging my daughter to keep those for me too he he
Now for the craft room and the items I have covered so far
I have designated areas as I am a lazy crafter, if its not out and easy to get to I don't tend to use it often. So as I have lovely stash to use it might as well be laid out ready for use he he

Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
OMG can't wait to show Martin this He thinks I have a lot of stash How organised you are Jen, would love to be like that Thanks for showing us, its very inspirational
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
I ws feeling very guilty about how much stuff I've acquired in a short space of time but way to go to catch up with you!
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
Blimey how organised you are, it looks great
It normally takes me longer to find something in my craft room then it does to produce the card, you've inspired me to have a good sort out on my next break from work

I was just saying that I wonder why it takes me so long to do anything. I think you have just hit the nail on the head. I spend so much time shifting things around my work top trying to find things.
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
That's why I got organised, I just didn't get around to using some of the lovely stuff I had as it was too much effort to find it - so I sorted it all out and I love it now My stash looks larger than most because of the huge amount of card and paper I have The Cuttlebug is my only machine so I've not spent that much really as most things have been bought at a reduced price Like my 8 sheets of Elusive images stamps I bought last week. I'm a member of the Graphicus sale and they had a members sale - got them all for £26 whereas one on its own is normally £20 I'm a cheapskate and buy almost everything at a reduced price he he
Re: Ribbon storage, take 2
I'm a bit like that Jen, why pay full price when you can get a discount, makes sense to me
