Tassels
If you like to add tassels to your work but find them a little pricey here's a top tip ... as they say on a certain TV Channel he he.
I buy a pack of cheapie embroidery skeins from my local cheapie shop, they are available in loads of places ... 20 skeins for £1. From each skein you can make 3-4 tassels depending on the thickness you prefer. Wind the embroidery thread around a piece of thick card which is 3.75 to 4ins long, the width doesn't matter as you are winding around the length of the card. I wind around 15 times then cut the embroidery thread. Cut two pieces of thread approx 6-8ins long or however long you want the connecting threads to be. Wind around the middle of the threads - one each side of the cardboard. Then cut the top and bottom loops to form 2 separate units both tied around the middle. Fold the bunch in half thus forming a tassel. Cut another piece of the embroidery thread to wind around 0.25ins from the top to make a neat upper edge. Trim the tassel threads to a neat straight line and voila - one tassel ready for use. So cost wise even if I get 3 per skein that's 60 tassels for £1.
Normally in the packets I've had 6 of those 20 skeins are variegated colours which are a perfect colour match for the plain colours. You could use those to crochet little flowers which will have perfectly toned tassels I'll post the pattern for those once I get a tidy one sorted out
I make the tassels while watching TV If anyone wants photos to show what I mean just holler and I'll take some as I make a tassel.

Re: Tassels

Re: Tassels
Ok ladies I hope you can work it out from this if not I'll do a step by step
Far right are some unused skeins, next to them bags of completed tassels. On the left top we have orange tassel made by Jen and the red tassel a bought one. Underneath that is the card/label which I use to wrap the threads around to make the tassels. The green "tassel" next to it is one half way made he he.
Is that any clearer ladies ?
