Clever postie
I sent my Mum a packet last Monday and she still hadn't received it by this Monday. Well she phoned me today to have a go at me (jokingly) because the post mark wasn't April but May. I told her about the slow post from this end at the moment and asked her what date was stamped on it thinking it might have been the 1st or 2nd May. The answer came back 9th May, well that's pretty clever considering it's only the 6th today

Re: Clever postie
I would take a picture of that Frances and send it to them and ask them how it happened, let them try and wriggle out of this one

Re: Clever postie
After a break of ten days I didn't get to pick up my Crafty Cow messages until last Thursday evening, which meant I had only six days to make and get a card to Robin in America in time for her birthday. It was the quickest card I've ever made, I posted it right away on Friday, but our only collection isn't until 5.00, and then it has to be transferred miles to a main Post Office, and goodness knows where else the van calls en route, but she received it today, one day early! A wonderful service for a change, and I don't want to be ungrateful, but if only we could rely on it.

Re: Clever postie
I forgot, does anyone know the method for postmarking now? My card from Jan was postmarked the day before I received it, and I thought it was a great service until I spotted the postmark, which was local to me, but a long way from Jan! (and it transpired Jan had posted it several days earlier than it was dated) Postmarks used to indicate the town of posting, and we could see how long things took to arrive, stamping at the town near the delivery address means we don't have any idea how long delivery has taken. It seems pointless to date it at all.

Re: Clever postie
I have had several ATC envelopes - usually Jane's - that are not postmarked at all The padded ones seem to be the ones they don't bother with
Re: Clever postie
I had one this morning that was franked 1 may 09 from its original place (Sheffield) and it was franked 2.30 am 7 may 09 (this morning) in Leicester. It would have been quicker for my friend to drive the few junctions down the motorway to deliver it personally
