July Card Swap News Empty July Card Swap News

Post  cubbie66 Tue Jun 02, 2009 9:19 am

As so many people seem to not be receiving cards and with it being holiday season I have decided that there will be no July Card Swap.
Having said this if enough people complain I might well run it lol!
But in all seriousness ladies I dont know if it is the post or not causing the delays, I know with some it is but it does get a little tiresome having to remind people every month to get cards sent out, it is one card in at least 28 days so not much to ask for them to be sent out on time.
It is very disappointing for the person who doesn't receive a card and I know a fair few people have been disappointed in the past so come on ladies if you want this swap to continue show your support Smile

I agree Jan, I know I have been disappointed in the past. When you go to the effort to make a card and then wait for yours and it never comes Crying or Very sad You have the option of letting you know that you can't do it on any particular month so really there is no excuse, as you say, there is a whole month to make one card. Very Happy

July Card Swap News Empty Re: July Card Swap News

Post  Jenny M Tue Jun 02, 2009 12:58 pm

I do hope we can have a July one as I love doing them, though I have to admit I get a bit peeved when there is no word after a card you made has been sent early on in the month. It is the easiest thing in the world to type in - I'm sorry I can't join in this month ladies. But saying that, one card .... just one card in 30 days ? I reckon most of us do far more than that monthly. But basically if your heart is not into it and you don't like swapping then you should let Jan know so that she can organise it for the ones that do enjoy it.

Thank you very much Jan for organising this and to Jacky for organising the ATC and Andrea for the birthday swaps Smile Hugs for you all and hope that people start joining in with respect for others from now on Smile Doh do I sound as if I am on my soapbox or what he he Smile

Thanks Jan, I can understand how you feel, it must be frustrating.

We all joined voluntarily so it's simple, and honest, to opt out if we can't, or no longer want, to fulfill the commitment we made. Jan, who kindly took on the organization, has been put into an unpleasant position and it isn't acceptable. (End of, iron lady eat your heart out Very Happy). Like Janet I've been enjoying it, but it can only work if everyone who's joined actually participates.

I understand your reasoning but I don't really want to miss a month (even though I'm one of the ones that has been lets down several times and haven't had my May card either)

Hope enough of us are prepared to make the effort and carry on. Thanks for trying to keep us in order

July Card Swap News Empty Re: July Card Swap News

Post  Jenny M Wed Jun 03, 2009 9:01 pm

Playing devil's advocate here - how about if someone misses either the card or thanks once then its excused if there is a valid reason but once 2 have been missed they automatically get dropped. That way the people still in are known to be participating and hopefully no-one will get upset when they either don't get a card or don't get thanked. I know it sounds harsh but if the same person isn't participating they obviously don't want to so dropping them from the list will not offend them.

I don't think your suggestion sounds harsh at all, I completely agree that people would be participating if they wanted to, and if they don't they wouldn't mind if they weren't included. I'd make it simple though, each month's list would only include those people who sent a card the previous month (now that's harsh! Twisted Evil). Jan could always exercise her discretion, - providing the appropriate card was sent to the person who missed out. I just can't understand the nice people in the group doing it. Surprised
