Using up old stuff/ Pottery paints.
I have had for years some old pottery paints. They are from the seventy,s, powder and belonged to my Mum. Has anyone an ideas ? Ithought maybe i could mix them up with some paint?

As they are rather old I don't know how stable they would be. I wouln't think they could be used fsucessfully or card making as they probably won't be 'acid free' but there's no harm inexperimenting. If you like painting why not decorate some flower pots for starters.

Isnt it funny what we do ?
I am finishing a cat mask out of paper mache- it has taken on a character of its own!
Now looking like a rather suprised panther! Will just add its whiskers then put it on here later on. I have enjoyed making it and will make my grandchildren laugh if nothing else!

Re: Using up old stuff/ Pottery paints.
I find wallpaper glue cheaper and have found old yellow pages ideal as the paper is finer and nicer to work with.
The kids at school have made gargoyles and have had such fun doing it ! Food packaging underneath such as the plastic apple packets and yogurtpots, tops of bottles for eyes! Then white paper over the yellow pages and some textured paint in stone and brick colours, then finalized with dry brush shading!

That would be great for encaustic art too. I usually use a wad of computer paper but yellow pages would be ideal. Thanks for the tip

I have just got my sister in law here and she is into rag rugging and collage fabric work. She wonders what is the best method to stiffen voil for leaves and flowers for bending and putting on canvas?

I havent any starch, but on my washing line she has done some samples, wallpaper paste , diluted woodglue and some diluted" hard as nails" adhesive. So will let you know if any works! I have painted a plantpot in old pottery paints which are powder paints mixed with really cheap olive oil.Talk about waste not want not! Lol!
