Sidestep Card
Here's how to do one but I don't like the American measurements

Here's a template for the 6" x 6" ones I made

Re: Sidestep Card
Thanks Jane, I did find my measurements but are a bit small for what I wanted to do, the same size as in the video, so am going to try and adapt it to a bigger size. Will see how I get on, if not it will be a plain old rectangle one again
Re: Sidestep Card
Thanks Jane, that looks easier. I have made a template for one but looking at it now I have folded it, it looks too big so think I will go with your measurements. Thanks very much
Re: Sidestep Card
make the slit 2 - 3 inches in from 3" - from one end and 1" from the other end. Then mark and score at 3", 6", 8", 10" & 11" on the wider side. Only the 6" line is scored right across then folded 'mountain' on the narrow side and 'valley' on the multiscored side. The rest of the folds are then easy to mark out. the finished card is 6" x 6"
I've written down measurements for a smaller card and will post them later (like the Heidi in the flowers sample in the on-line Challenge section)

Re: Sidestep Card
Haven't been near the gym or pool for 5 weeks and haven't been out much. Now the craft room is tidy again, I've got my mojo back.
I suppose it's the 'teacher' in me - I can't help it. Used to be a cookery demonstrator, a music teacher in a nursery school, trained cashiers and machinists in a bank and have now been a craft tutor for years so I'm used to sharing ideas. That's what I appreciate on the forum. I get to see lots of lovely cards you ladies make and get inspiration from them too.

Re: Sidestep Card
Finished my side step card but the steps are on the other side as I foolishly marked it up on the reverse of the card but happy with it all the same Have put it in my gallery

Your error could save the rest of us from doing the same, thanks for telling us Jacky!Craftworker wrote:Finished my side step card but the steps are on the other side as I foolishly marked it up on the reverse of the card but happy with it all the same Have put it in my gallery

Re: Sidestep Card
I'd tell you where my spirit of adventure leads me, but I shouldn't want to shock you! I still think you're great for 'fessing up Jacky, I know I would have done the same thing without your timely warning!

Re: Sidestep Card
I like the 'tall' bit on the right and the 'steps' on the left - it's not wrong at all. Its good to show some creative variations. No need to 'fess up'
Left, right, one each side - all look good.

I’m sorry if the ‘e’ word offends, but an error is an error is an error. If an oversight means that what you produce is different to what you intended, you’ve made an error, however happy the outcome. Jacky pointed it out herself, and I can’t see a problem acknowledging an error, 'wrong' doesn't come into it. “The man (or woman) who never made a mistake never made anything.”

Re: Sidestep Card
It was an error, due to the fact I had intended it to be on the other side, but the error really didnt matter on this occasion, as I like it anyway
Re: Sidestep Card
And thank God for errors!Christine wrote: “The man (or woman) who never made a mistake never made anything.”
If it had not been for errors I would not be here
And we would not have a lot of the medical breakthroughs that we have today either:-
Penicillin was discovered by chance, after Fleming accidentally left a dish of staphylococcus bacteria uncovered for a few days. He returned to find the dish dotted with bacterial growth, apart from one area where a patch of mould (Penicillin notatum) was growing. The mould produced a substance, named penicillin by Fleming, which inhibited bacterial growth and was later found to be effective against a wide range of harmful bacteria. However, it was not until World War II that penicillin, the first antibiotic, was finally isolated by Howard Florey and Ernst Chain. Fleming, Florey and Chain received a Nobel prize in 1945, for their discovery which revolutionised medicine and led to the development of lifesaving antibiotics.
THANK GOD for errors

Glad my education didn't go to waste
Though google did come in handy for the hard facts
I LOVED science at school and in further education
Biology was my favourite
When everybody else covers their eyes at an operation on the TV I move even closer to the screen
