Does anyone have any phobias????
I know this is going to sound a bit silly but does anyone in the birthday club have anything which they particularly dislike??? After a discussion at the crop tonight and a few people saying what cards they avoid making...
I.e My Mum hated birds and would put any cards straight in the bin (Not that I have anything birdie). I don't have anything against birds.. I am not superstitious, but I guess I avoid them a bit...
I worked with someone who had a cat phobia. She was terrified of them and wouldn't have anything catty or a cat card in the house. She would turn very pale and sweat if she saw a cat.
Some people dislike white lillies (Funerals etc)
I bought some Pumpkin and aubergine stamps (Do-craft HAlloween stamps and they are just tooooo cute to use at halloween. I thought I might make a few cards with them... (minus the halloween bits of course!)
I just thought I would ask!
(hands up those now think I am mad)

Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
You're not mad. I'm not into Halloween or witches but fairies are OK. Other than that, anything goes - certainly don't have any phobias.
Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
It all started when our card making queen said her work collegue put the card she lovingly stamped with aharvest mouse in the bin cos she couldn't look at it! She has a fear of mice.... Queenie was quite miffed as she had stamped it up., coloured it and sort of decopaged it up. We thought it looked fab. Her collegue didn't. She knew she wasn't a fan of mice,(Apart from me who is?) but hadn't a clue it ran to a deep seated fear. So as we make cards for birthdays at the crop, we all decided it would be better to find out now if anyone really dislikes anything to a point that it is a phobia, just so no one gets offended!

Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
Snakes! But I can't really imagine anyone making a card with a snake on it unless it was a comic one!
Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
My mum can't bear to look at snakes, photos or on tv I get a bit worried around cats but love photos of them - just a fear that they might leap at me I wouldnt mind but we always had a cat and dog when I was a child and I have never been bitten or badly scratched by one. Don't know where the fear came from. Having said that I couldnt harm one and would look after one if I thought it needed it. When we lived in Aus a couple who lived in the flat below us, left the village and their cat who was only about 9 months old. I couldnt leave it to starve so put food outside our door for it and allowed it in if Martin was around - in the end he slept on our bed and took over the flat but I was still quite happy to hand him over to a cat lover when we left Aus At least he got the love he deserved from them.
Otherwise no phobias apart from Thunder & Lightning - please dont put them on a card but I still wouldn't throw it away

Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
I must admit I didn't like snakes up until we went to a shop in Team Valley that sold tropical fish etc. I was looking at the rats (Love the fancy ones, casper was the best pet I ever had!) and the assistant let me have a cuddle of the shops pet. Then I got to hold a Gecko, then a tiny weeny snake. (Gulp) then progressed to this big thing. Was a bit unnerving at first, but to be honest I think it was more interested in going back to sleep!. Was a good hour in there. My OH only went in to get some fish! He did draw the line at a rat though. I don't really have the time...
Mine is flapping birds (pigeons especially). My friend tried to cure me in Trafalgar Square. She dragged me through the middle. Was almost in tears at the other side. Was convinced was going to end up with one trapped in my hair. Am shuddering now.

Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
belly buttons - that's a new one on me.
I'm not all that fond of snakes but don't have any phobias and I actually love spiders. Have handled a tarantula without any problems but, if we get to Australia, I'll just try to avoid them. You get the odd red-back and a bite can be very nasty but not usually fatal.
The Redback spider (Latrodectus hasselti) is a potentially dangerous spider native to Australia that resembles a Black widow spider. It is a member of the genus Latrodectus or the widow family of spiders, which are found throughout the world. The female is easily recognisable by its black body with prominent red stripe on its abdomen. Females have a body length of about a centimetre while the male is smaller, being only 3 to 4 millimetres long. The Redback spider is one of few arachnids which display sexual cannibalism while mating.
Redbacks are considered one of the most dangerous spiders in Australia.[1] The Redback spider has a neurotoxic venom which is toxic to humans with bites causing severe pain. There is an antivenom for Redback bites which is commercially available.

Re: Does anyone have any phobias????
I dont like clown images at all, maybe its the sadness that they seem to have . When I was little I was frightened by a man in a monkey suit , so would run now if I saw one.
