Some piccies
Thought I would put the link to Mike's Flickr account on here, he is getting quite good with his new camera Here and there's plenty of choo choo's for the big boys to look at, mostly Romney Hythe & Dymchurch railway engines.

His 1st love is tanks and militaria but we don't have enough space in the house for anymore
Jacky his camera wasn't that expensive as digi ones go he likes to think it is his composition and skill that makes a good picture.....blah blah blah yawnnnnn
Might treat him for his birthday to a trip on Tangmere or Oliver Cromwell Janet, 2 birds with 1 stone, I get to craft all day without interuptions and he gets to go on a steam train
Have passed all your lovely comments onto him and he said Thank you

(Jan Quote )His 1st love is tanks and militaria but we don't have enough space in the house for anymore toys oops models, he is really getting into trains now and is in the process of buying the bits n pieces to build a train layout with all the buildings and stuff but he has got to build a decent size shed yet for it all to go in, this he hasn't quite understood yet I'm going to get him a bobble hat and a flask for his weak lemon drink for Christmas, oh and if he is really good a train lunch box for his meat paste sarnies and a train drivers hat .

What about the loft Jan thats where ours is, hubby has been `training` since he was a little lad, if Mike would ever like to `have a look` let me know, we moved a few years back and he has starting `setting` it up again, when he retired we did a Severn Valley railway evening dinner trip, it was wonderful even I enjoyed it Janet xx

Re: Some piccies
Thanks for the offer Janet will let him know I'm sure he would love to and then I could come too and meet you for some crafty chat
Re: Some piccies
WOW! those photos are really brilliant!
I especially like the one of the moon over the White Cliffs of Dover
I am just in the process of sending the link to Alan who just adores photography
I used to be a keen photographer years back and still have my old Pentax SLR and various lenses for it and knew all the techinical bits about aperture and speeds and ISOs but it is so long since I seriously used it
It might use old fashioned film but I love it still
Mike is right about the composition it does take a good eye rather than a fancy camera
The clue is to get a camera that you are comfortable with and boy it is obviious that Mike is comfortable with that camera!
My late Father-in-Law (X's Father) was a real train buff
When my lot were small we were forever at model train exhibitions and various steam events
They knew the train formations 242 etc and really enjoyed their days out boys and girls alike
He even had LPs of different trains on various journeys
Keep an eye on your Flowersoft Janet if he is making scenery

I wish I had you with me last night Sadie. We went for a walk at Virginia Waters and there was some beautiful scenes as the sun was going down but my camera didn't pick them up on Auto and I didn't know how to use the manual bits The colours got lost on some of the photos Got home and studied the book but still no wiser Will have to have lessons from my daughter who did photography at Sixth Form and she takes lovely photos as does my d.i.l who is now setting up a photography business
Re: Some piccies
Sad news Mike had to take his camera to the camera hospital yesterday, it developed a blue line down the screen which was also on the pictures so he has had to take it to be mended and he is lost without it, he is using mine but really not liking it poor thing
Re: Some piccies
OH NO!! Poor Mike!!
As I said if you get comfortable with a camera that is the secret
I can bet he is frustrated with another one
Jackie I doubt if I could remember it all now
F stops and all that knowledge of technical jargon has been lost somewhere in the mists of my brain
Does your camera have a night time setting that might have done the trick
I love photographs of sunsets there is something magical about them

Re: Some piccies
It does have a night time setting Sadie, will have to try that, didn't think of it I love taking pictures but I get so frustrated when they don't turn out like I want them to
Re: Some piccies
what a shame - he was doing so well with it too. Hope it is back to full health soon!
