Good Tuesday morning to you all
Morning all, how are you today, weather here is sooooo..... cold, just got up for a coffee and thought I would take a peek, I do hope you are all keeping well this weather, thank goodness for central heating, but must be getting soft in the old age, I can remember when we just had a little coal stove in the kitchen that warmed the water not the house, now I dread the heating breaking down Have a wonderful day all Janet xxx
Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all

Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Good Mornin Janet, Andrea & All
Little chilly here today but not to
bad, I remember when we was kids
all we had was a coal boiler to heat
the water and no central heating, I
think in a lot of ways we have it to
easy nowadays, going out getting
dirty playing in trees, nowadays a little
bit of dirt and outy come the baby wipes
Sign of the times I guess

Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Morning everyone, bright and sunny this morning but very cold. Martin has gone to golf and I am about to go shopping We were only talking about the old days last night - my DIL was complaining about the changes in the budget saying they are giving it to all the old people but half of them don't need it, they should give it to the young people who are struggling to pay for their houses etc. Her Dad and I both had a go. I said there was a young lady on the tv saying it was difficult to manage and she was stood in a kitchen full of kitchen appliances and saying about her 4 boys having showers every morning, sometimes 2 would go in together to save water. I thought it was funny because when I was their age we had a tin bath in the kitchen, the youngest went in first and a fresh bucket of hot water was added for each of us 5 children, then mum and dad last as he was the dirtiest having come from the allotments. That was a Sunday night ritual ready for school Monday morning Just thought, we didnt have any heating in the kitchen either, just the lounge had a fire. Water was boiled up in an electric boiler
Hope you all enjoy your day

Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Yep Jacky I remember the Sunday night ritual
not in a tin bath though
We as a society have gone soft
I hear people in the shop whining about the cold
and I think 20 years ago here only the very rich
had any kind of central heating, 30 years ago
most people still lived in stone houses (out in the country
anyhoo) when I first visited here in 1991 they only had 2 tv
channels and they didnt start till 2pm and finished about
midnight, now its all sky tv and stuff, short memories people
have

Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Morning ladies. Oh you girls have had my memories running amok today he he. I was raised in the country with an Aga in the room which served as the kitchen, dining room and living room. There was a best room too but that was kept for ...... funerals he he. I too had the Sunday night routine but not in a tin bath though. The only heating came from that Aga which was great if you had the bedroom above it but pants if you didn't he he. You just wore night clothes, including socks etc more for when you got up I think than for when you were in bed under the ton of blankets ... weren't they heavy? he he My days used to be spent roaming the country making dens with the boys, fishing, going for long 8 mile walks etc .... it was safe to do so those days. I would often be away all day, but my mum didn't need to worry as she knew I would be home when I was hungry. I was always up to my arm pits in dirt but it didn't matter because you washed when you came in for the night ... which was always before dusk in the winter and around 7pm latest in the summer. Boy did I hate the winter time as I had no free play time to speak of during the week
Do you girls remember how cards used to be a sheet of A4 paper with one quarter printed on and folded in half, then in half again? I was messing around on my comp last night and the printer has that setting, I didn't think anyone would still want to make them like that he he. I guess its a bit like a very basic GCF
I'm off now to get some cards made, happier ones today thankfully, and hope you all have a great day. Hugs for all

Morning everyone. It's freezing cold here but very bright again today. I've got to do some college work so I wont be on here for long today.
Have a good day whatever you are doing, even if it is just remembering the olden days

Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
I think it was Wordperfect that had those paper cards in! I've got a small case of very old cards that my mother had saved- dating back to before I was born! Next time I go to the summerhouse where I store all sorts of stuff Ill get them out and scan some to show you. They are so different to todays.
Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Wow what some memories They were such happy times too I remember my two younger brothers and sister went off on their bikes with some jam sandwiches for lunch in a bag. Mum thought they had gone to the park just up the road, but they had gone over 10 miles to a river and spent their day there but back by dinner time. Mum couldn't believe it when they got home and told her where they had been. They were 4, 7, & 9 and the little one had only just learned to ride his two wheel bike
Look forward to seeing the cards Sue

Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Must have been something about the prog as I had a little doze while it was on as well
Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
and I missed it altogether. We used our bus passes and took a trip into Camberley to see the new Atrium complex. What a waste of time. It's got a couple of shops Next and Laura Ashley on the outside, and lots of resturants and coffee places inside. Glad to see the cinema back in Camberley though, will save us travelling to Basingstoke or Bracknell although we don't go that often. It is a Vue cinema and looks good. The bowling place isnt open yet. I thought there was going to be lots of new shops Camberley was completely dead - hardly a soul around
Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
Forgot to mention I received my first Christmas Card today along with a calendar of the Great Barrier Reef from my mum's cousin who lives in Australia. He has been in touch with me recently as he is doing the family tree - lost touch with him years ago, last saw him when we lived in Oz 30 years ago. Sally will probably want the calendar as it is places she lived when she was out there She's not getting it though
Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
I think every where is dead, the shop is no where
near as busy as it was a couple of weeks ago even,
makes the shift drag when ya looking round for things

Tuesday afternoons Jacky is the time for the cinema- senior citizens and you get free tea and biscuits- only £3.50 Not tried it yet though.
Re: Good Tuesday morning to you all
You are a mine of information tonight Sue. Didn't know that, we could have gone in They have some sample seats in the foyer and I must admit they felt very comfortable too. Hope they don't get vandalised as they look like leather but probably not with nice wide armrests
