Haggis Season
Anyone want to go *haggis hunting*?
The season is from today (St Andrew's Day) until 25 January (Burn's Night).
You may have to wait a while to see one - and then, quite often, several turn up in different locations. They're not easy to spot on the thumbnail cameras, but if you think you've spotted one, you can click to get a bigger view. They're actually easier to spot at night.
(There's a link between the red asterisks - I've noticed that links aren't always immediately visible on this forum.)

Re: Haggis Season
I used to go Haggis hunting with my uncle when I was a little girl on my holidays in Scotland. He was a butcher and used to sell them in his shop.
The secret was to lure them out of the hills onto flat ground because, as they had one leg shorter than the other, they then ran round in circles and were much easier to catch.

Do you still believe in Santa Jane and the Easter Bunnie ???
Re: Haggis Season
Of course? Don't you? Where else do the chocolates come from at Easter and pressies at Christmas?
Re: Haggis Season
My daughter has always hated Christmas, apart from the dinner and can't say it is my favourite time of year, I just hate surprises and can't hide disappointment when I don't get what I want
Re: Haggis Season
I logged on and spotted 2 Haggii straight away
We used to go haggis hunting at the weekend in our local hills when I was young
It was as I got older that I started to see them
The trick is that you need to have a drink of whisky in order to see one
Though I didn't have any whisky in me tonight
Must be because they are seen through the camera lens and the camera operator was having a wee dram
They have tartan feathers, have 3 legs long legs and one short one
On a steep hillside they can move fast
Only when they are on flat land can you really catch one because they get around by going round in a circular motion there:rendeer:
Rumour has it that they only go round because of the effects of the whisky but this theory has yet to be scientifically proven as you have to drink whisky in order to see them

Re: Haggis Season
Of course it is Jan
But I noticed the ones I saw tonight were static
Whisper it but I think they were dead ones that had been caught previously
For the tourist kinda thing
And they didn't have tartan feathers either
These disappear the minute they are killed
So I think they must have been previously killed
