Getting the girls well trained
Yesterday Emily (just 3) painted a dinosaur pencil holder and today they both painted wooden flower fridge magnets. This afternoon, after swimming we used the left over paints to colour strips of fallen eucalypyus bark Aborgininal style with symbols, dots and colours of earth, sky, bushland and water!
Got to get my thinking cap on for next week - bought lots of things with me but need to keep coming up with new ideas using limited resourses! STill haven't opened the french knittng or origami animals but the sticker books are going down well - no wonder my suitcase was so heavy.

Re: Kiddiecraft
You can have them make what we used to call "woolly bully families" - little people made from wool wound around Betamax cases in those days he he. Get two shanks, with the first one tie a thread of wool around to form a head, another at waist level and split the bottom half in two and tie to form feet. With the second shank tie at both ends to form hands and slot through the middle of the "body" one to form his arms The kids used to have loads of fun doing them with various faces, hairstyles etc Very cheap to make and used to be a way of using up odds and ends of wool as I used to knit and crochet a lot in those days
Re: Kiddiecraft
My granddaughters make them too and my daughter, who is a teaching assistant has her pupils making them too he he
I loved it he he Actually its a good way of making tassels now for cards, but using embroidery shanks as a starting point I'm such a cheapskate honestly he he

Re: Kiddiecraft
They are lovely Jane and the bark painting has given me some food for thought for a card or two
Re: Kiddiecraft
All this dry weather means there's lots of eucalyptus bark around
Sorry to be a pain but I'm actually beginning to envy you all back in cold UK. Its still over 30 outside and its after 8.00pm with the sun going down. Certainly needed the swim today. Due to peak at 38 in a couple of days then back to 26 again. All we do is watch the thermometer - no clouds to watch and a breeze is a novelty. Crazy weather on the east coast with some towns in Queensland cut off for 6 weeks because of floods - its not all that warm in Sydney either.
The long walk we did yesterday has taken its toll - walked from Brighton to Glenelg (about an hour each way).
Baby sitting again tonight. My daughter says she's been out more times in a week than the whole of the year so far. We do have our uses!
