Back from the Outback! Empty Back from the Outback!

Post  poppytree Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:37 am

Just to let you know I'm back and have survied.

Had an amazing week in the outback travelling by 4x4 over unmade roads, dry river beds and boulders. Did a white knuckle trip over ridges with sheer drop either side - spectacular views but tummy still recovering. The plane ride was fun too - a little bumpy but what views! Covered well over 1000 miles and its hard to describe what this wilderness is really like. Lots of photos on this link but many more to add when I catch up on sleep.

Its heaven driving on tarmac roads again and not having to get your own rainwater from a pump for drinking and washing! Its a very different way of life and hard for us townies to appreciate.

Came straight back to an all day craft session - Thankful - run by Mellissa Francis and using her papers and ideas. I'll dowload them later too.

Thanks for sharing the photos Jane, brought back some lovely memories. When we lived in Woomera there was only a dirt road out up to Port Augusta so when I was pregnant I wasn't allowed out of the village unless I flew Neutral The first journey out with Ian was a picnic in the Flinders Laughing
