Busy, busy, busy
I might be a bit quiet on here for the next few days-hooray say some!
No problems, just busy, busy, busy, decorating etc.
One room done but 3 to go!
Making a start on the small bedroom/new craft room. Walls and ceiling to paint (and woodwork urgh) curtains to make, curtain rail to put up, craft desk, bookcases, filing drawers, boxes and cupboards to move.................
Got someone coming tonight to give us estimates for fitted wardrobes in the back bedroom. After nearly 40 years of hand-me-downs or 'making do' it will be lovely to have a bit of luxury in our old age.
Just when we got rid of 3 beds my son says he wants to stay over for the Derby meeting. He'll have to make do with an air matress on the floor now -bad timing.
Saturday could be very busy - our 39th wedding anniversary, Derby Day and I hope to get to the Craft Barn Open Day too if I can get my car out! (parking is horrendous and blocks our road as we're very close to the race course)

Lovely to think of all that work getting done! I have a huge wish list of things to do, but have such a problem getting my husband interested in doing anything in the house (coaxing, persuading, encouraging, bullying, nagging!) that I'm exhausted before we actually start working. He must just hate it, but I don't want to attempt it alone, and it's so expensive getting the decorators in. We had the kitchen done a few years ago and it cost well over £300, although there's hardly any wall to paint because of tiles and units. I dread to think what a full room would cost now.
I shall just think of Jane getting stuck in, good luck!

Re: Busy, busy, busy
Well, the lavender walls have gone -just finished the 2nd coat of brilliant white!
The roller's and brushes have had their first rinse clean and are now in soak to finish off later. Now I'm going to cut out, press and pin the cutains ready for sewing. Hope my old machine still works! Bet I haven't got the right coloured thread either.
It was great having the long table at IKEA for cutting out as I was able to match patterns and cut 2 identical curtain lengths. Ingrigued as they sell their fabrics by weight, not length. Mine cost me just £14.30 and I have enough fabric for gathered top and a decent hem in case of shrinkage.

Wow, you are going to be busy Jane, have fun with all that decorating. I love painting and redecorating, such a feeling of accomplishment after it's done!
Hope you have nice plans for Saturday and just in case you are not about I will wish you and your beloved a Happy Anniversary now xxx

When we lived in Malta material was sold by weight. It just used to be in a huge heap on a table and you picked the piece you wanted !
Re: Busy, busy, busy
My poor sewing maching blew up after all that work!
Had done the seams and top casing and had just stopped to make tea when I heard it start up all by itself even though no-one was near the control pedal. Thread jammed everywhere and needle broke. Mind you, it was over 50 years old -'bout timeI treated myself to a new one. Luckily I can hem them by hand
Got a bit of time to spare as the guy coming to measure up for the wardrobes is stuck on the M25 and already over an hour late!

Hope the wardrobe man came in the end and you found something lovely. I love making curtains so quick to make and there is so much nice material out there to choose from. Poor old sewing machine

Re: Busy, busy, busy
Oh Jane you are a busy girl he he I too love decorating but am putting it on hold at the moment to see how I fare on the transfer list first ... knowing my luck I would redecorate every room then be offered the perfect place to move and have to start all over again he he.
2 down 3 to go
The craft room is looking good but still have masses of stuff to put in all those nice boxes, shelves and cupboards!
still need a home for this lot
wish it would stay like this
new rug
Clive's chair
the office

Looking great Jane, the green in the office is very similar to my front bedroom and I just love it, looks so fresh
