No work, no traffic, no passible roads!

Hope the boiler behaves, especially as its going down to at least -8 tonight. I've changed all the beds and I'm going to put a hot water bottle in the bed just in case.

Can help comparing the journey with last year's. We had a week of worry followed by 3 terrible days of 15" snow and Heathrow was shut for a while. If it carries on like this we'll probably have to do the same again - walk to the main road and get a hired car (provided the planes are going out and the hired car is able to get to us)

I know its still 10 days away but the big freeze looks set to continue for at least another 5 days. Yet again, I could be busy with my razor as my friendly beautician won't be able to get here for my leg wax either - just like last year!

It will be worth it when you get there .... My friends son is off to LA tomorrow , Virgin have said try and get to the airport and they will look after passengers who manage to check in ...Davids got a taxi booked for 6am , but like Jane he may have to walk up the hill and down the road to the main road ! One way of starting his year away ! Very Happy

Hope he gets away OK. Long haul and USA flights are generally much more reliable and seem to have priority (provided the planes are there in the first place)

Been there, done that - at least I know we will get there eventually but its all the lost sleep and angst in the meantime I find hard to cope with. Walking is difficult at the best of times but with a suitcase, hand luggage and snow & ice to contend with it may be a bit harder than last time.

Think I'll have a large G&T instead of my hot chocolate. Slimming club was cancelled tonight butI think I've lost some of the weight I put on over the Christmas period

When 40% of flights were cancelled last year - Singapore got us to Adelaide in comfort and on time! 'fraid I'd never travel with BA if I could help it.

The Singapore 10.05pm flight went out OK tonight - on time! (we've travelled on a Thursday 3 times but this year we chose a Saturday to avoid extra commuters and Friday night escapees)

So provided we can get to Heathrow, it should be alright. Most of the long haul flights seem to be going out on time or with very slight delays and the only cancellations have been to Europe & Kuwait.

fingers crossed
