1 step forward 2 back - but I'm getting there. Blooming data protection!

Tried all morning to access my emails via the web site and via a frustrating helpline but, even though I set it all up and its in joint names, as Clive pays the bills they need his permission to give me the password to get on to the actual section. I have the password to pay bills and do TV stuff but not get at my own emails. He's away on a course all week but I will have to make the phone call all over again tonight when he's home and hope i can come into work tomorrow and have the use of a computer (I usually only work Wednesday mornings and the occasional Tuesday)

The good news is I found a great local PC shop and the man was so helpful. He's retrieving my stuff from the old drive, loading it onto a new computer, installing newer versions of Windows and Office and a decent firewall then bringing it to the house tomorrow night to set it all up for me. I had a sum of money saved up for replacing my computer at some time and I'll get a fair bit of change from that! I've saved myself a heck of a lot going to this small independent business and they were highly recommended.

The heating is working now and the house getting quite cosy. Even had enough very hot water for a long soak in the bath! Down to one duvet and a fleece + 1 hot water bottle. still waking rather early but its getting later each morning. The TV remotes are fully opperational now so channel hopping is no longer a problem.

I may even be back full time by the weekend!

Glad you are getting sorted Jane, and you have your hot water and tv. Martin did my computer for me, just ordered the bits and put it all together, would have cost twice the amount if I had got one all assembled. I have Windows 7 now too as we didnt want to change the computers when they were all Vista as no one seems to like it.

Glad to hear things are coming together Jane
It must take a wee while to get used to the temperature and time difference

We did the same with this laptop Jacky when it started playing up
He wanted to get me a new one but they were all Vista and, like you, we had heard so many bad reports about it
Although I don't use this for my crafting CDs very often a lot of my software does not work with Vista and I like to have the option so he just ordered the relevant bits to sort it and upgrade it at the same time
