..... how you all decide on what design your cards are going to be? Do you start with the image or the papers? Just wondered 'cos last week I started a card which originally was going to have the image stamped on pale lemon card, but by the time I had found papers to coordinate and changed my mind a few times the card ended up being pink and aubergine!! Not a bit of pale lemon to be seen! confused

I change every time I do one. Sometimes I start with the card color but most of the time I go with the graphic that I'm using or the stamp.

Usually inspired by paper first or an idea in a magazine. I am a stamper first and foremost but I find I have favourites for a while and use them over and over then I find something I haven't used for a while and go mad with that.
For example

January - ATCs
February -in Australia
March -Mini Scrapbooks -felt ribbons -stitching effects
April -templates and shapedcards -Dovecraft, HOTP and WS designs
May - textures (using my new Cuttlebug) mainly with animals and Clutter Cards
June -alcohol inks and metals
July - Tilda
August ??????

I usually start with the image I am going to use
then work around it, but I dont stick anything
down till I have layed it on the card first to get
an idea or to see where I can improve it Smile

I start with the image or stamp then play around with papers/card that I have around the place. Once that aspect has been sorted then I decide which shape to make it, sometimes I have to change my mind about the papers as the originals didn't go with the shape I'm making. I normally live with a card on my mantelpiece for a few days before adding the final embellishments; wouldn't want to waste gems, tassles etc etc if I wasn't happy with the card he he. I often am inspired by a card seen on a blog, tutorial, website etc too Smile I'm just happy making cards he he

Oh dear!
I do neither of the above Rolling Eyes
I alsways seem to have a theme............. I think of the person I am making it for.
Then I pull out a LOAD of things until I end up with the card I want
Disorganised or what?!!!

I usually think of a theme first - depending on who the card is for - then choose stamp, decoupage etc. Then find the best paper to match. Very Happy I'm very random really. The more special the card is supposed to be, the more difficult I find it. I have to do one for my daughter and DIL but cant seem to get started. Idea Just remembered Charlol sent me some flip flop templates ready for my DIL birthday. Just wondered.... 16355
