Pringle tubes
I have used washed out Pringle tubes to keep reels of ribbon in, they are great for the 3 metre ones from Hobbycraft or any of the smaller reels, I cut a slit in them lengthways so I can see whats in the tube and they keep them clean, tangle free and easy to see and can be stored upright so taking up very little room. Haven't covered them yet but when I get round to it will add a piccy
Re: Pringle tubes
What a brilliant idea Jan. Martin bought me a ribbon holder but it only has 8 holes in it, I doubled up with the organza ribbons. I went into a shop just before Christmas which sold ribbons, I bought the last metre on the reel so asked if I could keep the reel. She said she had a load of them in the back room if I wanted more so I took 10 but they are the big ones. Martin has put a bent coathanger wire through them and then hooked it under one of my shelves, just need to add the ribbon to them now I also have several small reels, they didnt have holes in them so the pringle box would be just right
Re: Pringle tubes
Sounds a great idea
It seems ribbons are the bane of crafters' storage problems
Look forward to seeing the photos
I also have a storage solution I am about to embark on for this very problem
I got the idea from the commercial ribbon storage bags that are on the market but at a fraction of the cost
I haven't tried it out yet but will share it once I get underway

Re: Pringle tubes
I was given a tube last night My friend had some so when she emptied them into a bowl I asked for the tube Then I left it behind. Must phone and find out if it is still there or if she has thrown it out now
Re: Pringle tubes
Know how you feel I had 2 more downstairs and I think while we were away Carrie has put them in the bin, trouble is bins were emptied this morning and I never thought about them until it was to late
Re: Pringle tubes
I'm ok - have phoned her and she still has it. She works in a pre-school so never throws things away as they use them for junk modelling but she says my name is on that one
Re: Pringle tubes
My daughter threw mine away I found out earlier and I hadn't left them in the kitchen I had brought them up here but she thought they were junk and threw them away ok so she was kind of being helpful but I have told her not to throw stuff away in my craft room unless it is in the bin already blooming children, who'd have em
Happy you got yours though Jacky

Bisto gravy granules tubs can be used too. If you want to keep little embellishments - flowers etc. in them - cut the narrow panel out as for the ribbons but stick acetate inside the tub. This way you can see what's inside and none of it falls out.
I also use the plastic "Daz" washing containers for my dried flower, one for each colour. You can pretty them up by covering the front and back in paper to match your Pringles tubs. but leave the sides clear so that you can see inside them. They also stack nicely.
