A dirty word Empty A dirty word

Ironing! Washed like mad today, enjoyed seeing it drying in the sun, then came the nasty bit, and it made me realize how my ironing habits have changed. I'd done lines and lines of washing, but by the time I'd removed the non-ironing it wasn't nearly so bad! It's strange that when I ironed for a family I ironed everything, but now, when I have so much less anyway, I don't bother ironing things that I wouldn't have dreamt of not ironing before, Shocked and would have done them painstakingly too! I've left most of it until now, when it's cooled down, but these are the things I shall skip if I can't face them at the end: pillowcases, sheets, duvet covers, pyjamas, underwear, socks, towels and teatowels. Am I just a completely slovenly housewife, or is life too short to waste it ironing, when I could be crafting?

I don't iron those items either. I did 7 loads of washing today and most has been put away already as it was the kids duvet sets, fleece blankets and duvets Smile

I hate ironing and really have to be in the mood to do but ironing socks ? why? never noticed enough wrinkles in socks to warrant ironing them lol!

I think I used to iron everything I washed, it wasn't just me, most women did. I'm happy not to now, but still always iron tea-towels, and I'd iron socks if they haven't dried nice and soft. I remember spending hours on those three-quarter cotton socks my young daughters wore, they used to dry like cardboard if it was a hot still day! Very Happy Ironing does make things nicer to wear.
