Cleaning Clear Stamps
What is the best way to clean clear stamps? Up until recently I have only used stamps made from rubber. Some people say use only water, some add washing up liqid, some use cleaning solution. Do stamp cleaners like stazon cleaner affect clear stamps in any way? I know that they get stained very easily, even with ink other than stazon. I would welcome your comments and suggestions please.

Re: Cleaning Clear Stamps
I just have a bowl of soapy water next to me when I stamp with them. I have dabbed a bit of stamp cleaner on them too when I've used Stazon and then washed them in the soapy water. Not had a problem so far
Re: Cleaning Clear Stamps
I use soapy water but I use a quick wipe with Stazon cleaner first to remove heavy staining. If using dye or pigment inks the soapy water works fine. Most new clear stamps don't go yellow and, even if they do, it doesn't seem to affect the stamped image.
Re: Cleaning Clear Stamps
The first ones I bought, several years ago, have gone yellow but I have never used some of them as they came in a pack, they are the Anna Griffin ones. They all still work ok though
Re: Cleaning Clear Stamps
I use a baby wipe at the time I'm stamping then when all done use warm soapy water, with a gentle nail brush if needed for the fine detail stamps. If I had used Stazon the wet wipe gets the best part of the ink off but if any remains a quick wipe with a stazon remover sponge and then a quick dunk brings them out sparkling clean
I find the dunk in soapy water helps with their ability to stick to the block and the sheet they come on too. Just like with those toys the children had that you threw at a window and they slowly rolled down, until they got dusty then you washed them and played again he he. Does anyone else remember those ?

Yes, my children had those and left little marks as they walked down the window

I remember them well. Mind you, my windows and glass doors are no better and the kids left home years ago!
Do not use Stazon on clear stamps
It will eventually ruin them. Use non-alcoholic baby wipes or a small amount of mild dish washing soap.

What will eventually ruin them ? I'm blond and think I missed something along the way, so please bear with me here he he
Re: Cleaning Clear Stamps
I use the gentle baby wipes and depending on the ink I am using the remover
I found though that even with metallic stamps I always had a residue of ink left in fine detail stamps and had a job trying to get it off any stamp
But..............I bought a magic carpet at the craft fair I was at and it is brilliant
Woodware make it and it isn't dear
You just use your normal cleaner then scrub it with this and VOILA one very clean stamp!!!
It is just like black velcro on the 'scrubby' side and plastic on the other
Seemingly you just wash it through when it gets dirty
