Morning Marion!

Lovely morning here, plenty of jobs to keep me occupied... cleaning out the shed on a mouse hunt... but I know if I see one, I will be running fast!!!
Also going to try and get the grass cut, its looking very messy.
Take care and have a lovely day x

Karen, my shed was tidied last year so it doesn't need it this year.
I cut my grass last week, I had to, I couldn't see the tortoise. Its amazing how much it had grown during the winter, and I remember cutting it in November last year, and a few years ago you would never cut it as late as that.

IGood morning all, beautiful here too. Had a lovely evening last night - it was a surprise dinner for Martins retirement from the school. I had a phone call last week while he was away and sorted it out. I had to get him to the restaurant at 7.30 pm. I thought - no problem as he is always late and I am nagging him to get going. Last night he was ready at 6.45. I took my time Laughing I said it only takes about 5 mins to drive there. We left just after 7, I got him to park the other side of the town centre as its only a pound after 6, its not multi-storey either as he would rather park ground level. The real reason was I didnt want to bump into anyone in the car park. We were still too early so I had to walk really slow and pretend my knee was playing up. I had to rely on someone there to meet us as I didn't know whose name the table was booked in and didn't know if I knew any of the people there Laughing As we went through the door I scanned the room and saw,a few people at a table all turn and look and smile, so thought it was them as Martin was telling the man that we had a table booked for 2. Luckily one of the boys followed us in and tapped Martin on the shoulder but he still didn't cotton on and just made some comment about them letting people like him in. The boy said - I'm here with you - then Martin saw the others. He didn't know I could be so devious lol!

Martin has already cut our lawn twice this year and it could do with being done again. He has gone for the walk we planned, taking another couple with him, as we have to have 2 people who know the route and I won't be able to do it Neutral
Having a bit of a spring clean today too. Just waiting for the floors to dry.

Oh Jacky, what a lovely surprise for Martin, I bet his face was a picture.

Is he looking forward to retirement?

And are you looking forward to his retirement?

My John had to retire at 58 because of his health. He had worked nights for 25 years and the first thing I thought was how am I going to manage, being with him 24 hours a day Smile But it was fine. We always seemed to have things to talk about, and if it hadn't been for the fact he was so ill, we were forever chatting.

Well he took voluntary redundancy from IBM 9 years ago but got a job 2 days a week working with the IT dept at the school. The days he wasn't working he managed to fill anyway so maybe I will see him now Laughing I am lucky that he has so many interests and still active - walking, playing badminton, cycling and golf, then he has his model aircraft too. Don't think much will change Laughing

Afternoon ladies this nice weather has got something to answer for as I've done a bit of spring cleaning too!! The grass badly needs cutting but can't do it till all the fir cones have been raked up and the gravelly soil the fox threw over it cleared away - so think it might not happen till the weekend and maybe I can get Roy to do that bit! Anyway after all my hard work this morning I think this afternoon is me time!
Hope Martin enjoyed his meal.
