Black bird
While we were out yesterday Mike was so pleased he managed to get this pic, he also saw his first glimpse of a king fisher in the flesh all be it a flash of vibrant blueygreen darting past us
Re: Black bird
I had to resize it and it's lost a lot of the crispness of the pic but the bird really didn't care that we were there or that Mike was pointing a camera at it we were about 3 feet from it
Re: Black bird
Its still a wonderful picture, we have a little brook that runs into the sea just up the road from us and you get to see a kingfisher every so often but as you say you have to be quick , I love the kingfisher, and have a few pictures around the house of them Janetx

Re: Black bird
Wow that is such a great photo - well done Mike. I was watching them pinching the blueberries off my bush but couldn't get a photo as they flew away I have never seen a kingfisher in real life, they are so lovely
Re: Black bird
Ignore that - its there now - what a brilliant picture.
I took loads today while I was out walking - Headley Heath, Box Hill and Denbeighs Vineyard, Dorking

Re: Black bird
Lovely photos Jane, it didnt know that Denbeighs was still there, went there years ago had a good lunch Janet
Re: Black bird
Yes, It's still there and much bigger now. They are now the biggest vineyard in England and also have a great garden centre specialising in vines of course (plus other kitchen garden products like herbs and veggies). The shop is a little larger and they have great art exhibitions on the mezzanine floor too. Food is a little pricey but excellent quality.T here are some stunning views over Box Hill from the top of the vineyard and some lovely marked walks.
As you can see the leaves are turniong now and the last few grapes ready for harvesting. I can recommend the wine tour but make sure the driver is tea-total as I could hardly stand after tasting 5 quality wines last time I was there.
The light fruity whites are deceptive and really pack a punch. Drinking on an empty stomach is not a good idea.
There is also a little train which takes you round the (hilly) sights

It is a beauty!!!
Has a head light, a working horn (unfortunately it doesn't quack ). and it goes further and a LOT faster
Aide to memoire...........make sure my public liabilty insurance is up to date
Sorry haven't been around much ladies but they have been playing with my medication
With varying results
Hopefully it is sorted now
I have missed all the laughs on here and all the chatter

This will be you now then huh Aunty Sadie
We are a clever bunch; well on a good day, I'm sure one of us could find someone who could fit a quacker on your Duckmobile
Good to see you back

Re: Black bird
The colours at this time of the year are really lovely, the picture is great Jane, we are going to have to have a day out there again when we can. Hello Sadie lovely to see you again. Love the speeding Duckmobile Jan, at that speed Sadie will want a claxton rather than a quacker Janet xx
Re: Black bird
I've got a 'moo' but I don't think it would be loud enough!
Welcome back Sadie -we've missed you hun. Hope the meds are sorted now.

Re: Black bird
I like it
It really does go though
8 mph to be precise
It is lovely to be back ladies
And thankyou all for your kind words they do mean so much to me
Hopefully things have settled down now with the med
I do seem to be less spaced out today so things must be settling
Everything seems to be falling into place now, at long last
I now have aids in place for the bath and can actually go for a shower myself now
My new OT is looking in to getting me help with the h****work and quite a few other things that will make life easier for both Alan and me
It has been hard adjusting to all this but I am now at the stage that I am thankful for all the help I am getting
I wasn't so much thinking on L plates Jen but I do have some rather pretty sticky yellow ducks
I am just not too sure about sticking them on a brand new machine though
I shall have to talk to Anne and see where she gets all her Moo things from and try and source a duck horn Janet

Hi
As someone who chops off heads (only on photo's - so far) I really admire the wonderful shot of the blackbird, what a coup! It would make a lovely card, and would have been great for the Autumn-themed cardswap. My other favourite is the shot of the vine leaves and grapes, another potential card shot. I've decided I prefer the seasons of Autumn and Spring to Winter and Summer, although if we actually got a Summer I may change my mind.
Thank you for sharing the photo's, and congratulations, Christine
