Cuttlebug or Xyron Personal Cutting Machine Empty Cuttlebug or Xyron Personal Cutting Machine

Post  Christine 1 Mon Nov 24, 2008 12:26 am

Hi folks,

I have been thinking about getting one of the above but not sure what will be best. Does anyone else have either or both & what do you think of them?

I did think about getting the cuttlebug but not sure as only seen a couple of templates that i like, but the Xyron machine i do like the templates that they cut out so not sure

What does everyone else think, any good & bad points on them both before i go ahead & get them.

Cheers

I have the Revolution....hard to get dies for, shame because it is a brill machine
I will be honest I regret not getting the Cuttlebug
I have seen some amazing results with it

I also have the Cricut and LOVE it
The cartridges seem expensive at first view but you do get a LOT in each one
Well worth it
And you can now download templates for that too

Can't really speak for the Xyron, hope that helps a little bit Wink

I have a Cuttlebug and I love it but have used it mainly for embossing - I like the texture it gives to cards. I only have a couple of cutting dies have not made any use of them yet.
I bought the Cuttlebug because it was recommended by so many of my crafting friends and I am very pleased with it.

I have the Cuttle bug and I wouldn't be without it, you can use the "Nestabiliys dies with it , I love the alphabetes, they are so stylish, I went for the Cuttle bug because you can use ordinary embossing die that you would normally need a light box for and the fact that you can use most of the other brand dies with it.

I have the Bigshot, I think the main difference between
that and the Cuttlebug is space, the cuttlebug folds up
whereas the Bigshot dosnt, both great machines and
will do virtually the same jobs

I have a Cuttlebug - its my favourite buy of the year and I wouldn't be without it. I use Sizzlets, Cuttlebug and Quickuts dies in it and absolutely love the embossing and cut & emboss folders. (It replaced my Sizzix sidekick which was free with a magazine subscription a few years ago) Hope to get some nestabilities soon.

I have just started experimenting using brass stencils too - so much quicker than a light box and stylus. The reason I chose it was for its size and price. I use a Bigshot at the craftshop where I teach but they have the space

I have the old Sizzix machine which weighs a ton and you need to put so much pressure on it. Also the quickutz hand held one and Revolution. But Martin bought me the Cuttlebug for my 60th birthday and use it most days for both embossing and cutting. Love it I love you It is on my worktop and I just fold up the sides and push it back when I'm not using it. The revolution is good too but a smaller platform. I bought the new 12" platform but haven't really used it Rolling Eyes I should really put some of these on ebay and the Cuttlebug does them all Very Happy

I don't think I would get the use out of a cricut. Wouldn't know what to use it for - I tend to do a lot of stamping Smile Thinking of getting some nestibilities (maybe santa will bring me some) Smile

Myself and Jayne worked it out one day if you brought all the punches or dies of the different sizes you can diecut from the Cricut cartridges bearing in mind most have around 40/50 seperate images on them, the Animal Kingdom one has 48 different animals and with all the different sizes and functions it would cost around £20,000 if they were all around £5 each die or punch but 5.5 inch punches would cost way more than that so at between £30-£50 for a cartridge I don't think they are bad value at all even taking the cost of the Cricut in to consideration!!

I second that, I have spent about €400 on
punches if I had the cricut with george and
basic shapes cart would of only cost me €200

I have got that 1 Sadie and love it but the Animal Kingdom one so far is my favourite Laughing
To be honest Jacky I really don't think you would regret it if you did buy it, I managed to get mine 2nd hand but it was in pristine condition but I would if I had the money get the Expression not the original one.

The Expression is THE one to get that's for sure
I got the impression that it was just for bigger cut outs but it also goes a lot smaller than the ordinary one which would be VERY handy
