Isn't it typical?
Just 'cos I've got poorly feet, it's tipping down with rain, the postman has put a card through door to collect a parcel,(never rang bell) so I've got to go out and don't think sandals are a good idea. Got big plasters on and a pair of socks- hope shoes will fit!
Re: Isn't it typical?
Oh Sue you poor girl.
I get cross when the postman does that. Why don't they knock? It's naughty of them.
I hope you manage ok

Re: Isn't it typical?
Put a complaint in
If he has done that with you then chances are he is in a habit of doing it
I had a postie that Alan caught doing that red-handed
He did it again a week later and I was so angry I put in a complaint and let them hear how loud the front door bell was!
They re-delivered the parcel that afternoon and I have not had any bother again
I can't get to the delivery place and Alan works when they are open

I also get cross when they just post your parcel that you have to sign for. On ebay I have paid for this service so I expect to have to sign. I also caught our postman just putting my parcel through the catflap and not ringing the bell for me to sign. She hasn't done that since after I had had words with her.

Re: Isn't it typical?
I nearly got caught like that too but I was lucky and managed to chase after him and demand it was handed over before he had a chance to drive away! Luckily he was on his mobile or I would have been too late
Re: Isn't it typical?
Oh well done you Jane.
Do you know what also winds me up it's when the postmen or woman drop the rubber bands on your doorstep. I'm for ever clearing them up

Re: Isn't it typical?
I was clearing out some old peeloffs - (don't know why I ever bought them) and the bands came in very handy. Sold most of them along with a few rubber stamps, craft books, punches and unused ink pads at a craft sale inCarshalton a couple of weeks ago.
I may not be a peel-off fan but they were the most popular items and got people visiting my table. I even made over £100 and put some of the money towards new embossing folders, some Tilda stamps and some 'big mamma' metal moulds

WOW Jane you did do well, that is great.
You must have been really pleased, especially as you had more money to spend on other crafting goodies. What a result

Re: Isn't it typical?
I can't be bothered with Ebay - too much like hard work. I've only ever been to 1 car boot sale and there was so much junk I left after 10 minutes. Fussy old bag aren't I?
Re: Isn't it typical?
Carboots are one of those things you need to go to regually. Sometimes there is a load of tatt and then other times real gems. I just love hunting down bargins and crafting goodies he he

Re: Isn't it typical?
Plasters and socks worked a treat. Parcel was some books I had ordered - reading is another of my vices- sorry hobbies. Our regular postlady is really good but this was the van. Thought the young lad who used to do that all the time had left. If this one keeps doing it will complain - I suspect he didn't want to get wet waiting for me to answer.
Re: Isn't it typical?
All sorts. I belong to a U3A reading group so at the moment I'm reading Lark Rise to Candleford and in between the groups books I'm reading the No 1 Ladies detective agency series. There's not a lot of room in my house with all the books and all the craft stuff and then there's the knitting and the cross stitch....
Re: Isn't it typical?
Enjoyed both of those on TV but I'm mainly into thrillers at the moment - need a bit of excitment.
I discovered Robert Goddard when I picked up a book in the charity shop and bought loads more of his at 50p a time through AB Books. Having read about 8 of his I'm just about to start Victoria Hislop's new one as I really enjoyed 'The Island'. It was special as we had stayed in Elounda and visited Spinalonga a couple of years before.

I love reading too.
I'm a Dan Brown fan.
Wish he'd write another one.

Re: Isn't it typical?
Read Cranford a few months ago but wish I'd read it before the series on TV 'cos they are very different. I like Dan Brown and Robert Goddard too although I haven't read many of his. Also I loved the series Jean Auel wroteabout prehistoric men, and the Edward Rutherfurd books.
Re: Isn't it typical?
Awww yes that is just typical of the postie, ours used to do that till i complain and said they did not knock hard enough. i get my parcels left in my secure box now
Re: Isn't it typical?
I've read all Dan Browns, love the classics but Robert Goddard is my fav at the moment. I even resort to 'chick lit' when I'm on holiday as well as the odd autobiography - so, very mixed tastes
Re: Isn't it typical?
I read the The Island last year on holiday, found it very interesting. Other books I couldnt put down are The Guardian - Nicholas Sparks and The Undomesticated Goddess - Sophie Kinsella. My hubby also read all three of these and we have completely different tastes in books. He was talking not long ago about "a film we saw" and proceeded to describe it, when I realised he was talking about the Sophie Kinsella book. She had written it so well he could visualise it
Re: Isn't it typical?
I enjoyed the Sophie Kinsella one too, I'veread a few of hers but I'll look out for the Guardian -sounds our kind of thing.
