I've just been watching a very bedraggled robin in the garden. It is obviously feeding yound as it is back and forwards continually to the feeders, even in heavy rain. I didn't think birds flew when it was raining. Felt so sorry for it I went out and put some more food on table for it. Trouble is greedy pigeon tends to eat it all.

That was kind of you Sue,
I do feel for the birds in fact all the animals as it is hard for them with all this rain.
I expect the robin was very pleased with your gesture Very Happy

I really miss my bird table
We used to love watching all the different birds and all their antics
Can't have one now as Jimmy, the pesty Wesite, is so terriertorial as I call him that he chases them all away Sad Sad Sad
Used to have a robin that was so tame too Mad
Now our bird feeder has hanging baskets hanging from it

All we get out the front are magpies and squirrels which can be funny to watch too

I have a cat too so put the food well out of her reach. She doesn't often catch one now, or mice thank goodness, as she's getting on a bit. She used to bring them in - still live. Still haven't forgotten the day I found a magpie sitting on the microwave Exclamation Exclamation

We used to have masses of birds (3 nesting boxes full every year and lots of nests in the hedge) We have 2 squirrel proof feeders which are well-used.
Not quite so many since new neighbours arrived with their 2 cats. cat cat I'm trying to persuade them to wear bells but no luck so far. Sad (the cats that is!)

My garden is so small that it would be difficult to put bird feeders anywhere the cats couldn't reach them. We have trees hanging over from the neighbours and I have a flat roof so it just isn't an option for me.

Have you tried on of those little suction trays to put on the window -the robins and bluetits seem to like them. I suppose you would have to put it high up or Moses would sit on the window ledge and frighten them away.

Hi Jane, yes both Noah and Moses would frighten the birds away. As we have a flat roof I couldn't do that at the back of the house and have not thought about it for the front...............erm........tick, tick. That's not a bad idea. Will go and investigate that one, thanks for the suggestion
