About 6" here and that's just the first lot. It seems there is a whole lot more to come and its just started again. Hope you're happy now Lou (and Jen?) I'll think of you both as my blood pressure continues to rise.

Clive couldn't get his bus out and cars were slewed over the bottom of the hill near us so no chance of getting far! He phoned all the kids to say he couldn't pick them up. It's also a boarding school so some of the pupils and teachers are in today. He's walked down to the Coop to try to get some milk - the one thing I forgot yesterday.

Still snowing here - had about 12" so far!! Looks very pretty. We had a power cut overnight and had another short one this morning. If I disappear it'll be 'cos got no power. Roy's talking about walking down to me if we have a prolonged one as he will have no heating and no means of making a hot drink. At least I have a gas fire and a camping stove for emergencies!

Martin has been out the back cutting a path for Molly to go out - poor thing, it was up to her tummy and she couldnt squat down, she has her own private loo in the garden now surrounded by a wall of snow Laughing Laughing At least we will know it's all in one place Laughing Laughing Martin measured it and it is about 9 inches, but could be thicker in parts as my large pots are completely covered. Good luck with social services Lexie and hope you manage to get to your op. Even if you can get there, there is no saying that the staff at the hospital are all in either. My nephew spent the night out on the road manning a St. Johns Ambulance Land Rover. He had to do lots of rescues - even pulling a Police car out. My Brother in Law was out on a plumbing job and was snowed in, the lovely people fed him and put him up for the night. I wonder how long they will keep him Laughing Laughing

Looks like we have got sun tomorrow on the Met Office, but -5 degrees so looks like the snow will be hanging around for some time Mad Luckily I have lots of crafty things to play with Very Happy

Hi ladies Smile You weren't a problem last night Lou, just made me jealous is all he he. We had an inch or two overnight but with more forecast for lunchtime today. I'm hoping to go for a walk later/tomorrow to get some photos Smile I do appreciate that the snow can be very disruptive and hope you all survive this latest batch Smile

I remember you had to carry your cases to the main road last year Jane, hopefully it won't be the same this year. If it is could you not sleigh down on top of them? he he just kidding Smile

Hope your op goes ahead as planned and life starts calming down a bit for you Lexie, make the most of your enforced day crafting to help relax for a bit Smile

Hugs, kisses and positive vibes to all Smile

Post  CraftyPat Wed Jan 06, 2010 6:24 pm

Good afternoon Ladies

Well it would appear everything is having fun with this weather in one way or another.

OH went to work at 4.45, I went in at 7.30, but both of the sites we work at were shut down
at lunchtime. The drive home was worse than the drive in, coming out of the site carpark was well
slippery and then there are kids throwing snow balls at the cars as you go along. Don't have a problem
in the cleared roads but in the side streets when you are concentrating on staying on the straight
and narrow I could well do without it, so wasn't very polite!!

The Cat isn't silly he is upstairs laying where the hot pipe goes under the floor boards so is really warm.
I am having lots of hot tea and staying in front of a warm fire now for a while. Just hope it does not
freeze over too much overnight as it will be worse tomorrow if it does.

Take care everyone

Looks like you've been lucky - the main roads near Portsmouth have been horrific! We have 8"+ and it hasn't stopped snowing all day - its getting heavier and even colder now the sun's gone down!

Just been out and cleared snow off car before it freezes on. All the neighbours are out clearing drives and the men are even clearing the road! Next door started it as he had to dig a path to end of road for his girlfriend to get her car out.Think she was mad trying to drive back to her place near Portsmouth. They've said they'll dig me out too - but don't intend driving anywhere!!

Martin cleared a path up our drive and by the back door, then went up to post a letter on the main road at 3.45 - I have just looked outside and back door and there is at least another inch out there and it is coming down fast and furious again. It hasnt completely stopped here all day Mad

Just heard from Ian that they are down in A & E as Ruth had a fall in the snow and she may have broken rib(s). Got an ambulance to take her there but they are not sure how they will get home if they let her out later. She may have to walk back, not too far but I said if so Martin will go down and walk the other side of her for safety sake. Rolling Eyes

Post  Christine Wed Jan 06, 2010 9:06 pm

We left the drive clear last night, but had a few inches of snow overnight so were back to what has become the norm recently, drive-clearing first thing. We are so bored with it that we haven't done it again today, a;though I know we'll be sorry tomorrow, especially as it's 'deep and crisp and even' now. Evil or Very Mad We seem to have been doing it for ages, it must be at least a couple of weeks since we were completely snow-free. I don't know about stocking up, my stocks are getting depleted, it's a good thing mum brought me up to always have a good pantry or we would be struggling! Rolling Eyes

The children across the road are enjoying it, especially today as a snow-plough came along the road, skimmed off the loose snow and left it like a skating rink! Their drive is very steep so they have been sledging down it all week, but today they were sledging right across the road and into the drive opposite, it's a wide road too. Thankfully there hasn't been much traffic, but my heart has been in my mouth a couple of times, I've confined myself to the back of the house so that I don't see them.

I went to the shop wearing my Yaktrax and chatted to a neighbour, who moaned that I was compressing snow he had to clear on the pavement, so I apologized, but then he said he'd encouraged the children by lending them one of his sledges, so I told him I wasn't sorry after all Wink ! He can't see them from his house! There's a terrific amount of snow out there, and more coming, what do you think, floods next? (Just thought I'd add a little new year cheer, hope no-one lives in a low-lying area!)

Hope everyone stays war, and all sympathy for those that have to go out.

Thanks Christine, she is out now and only suspect cracked ribs but mainly bruising of the tailbone - she is going to be a bit uncomfortable for a few weeks Laughing Relieved it wasn't serious, they have spent so much time for different things in A & E recently and thought 2010 was going to change everything, hope it doesnt carry on like last year for them. Luckily our neighbour was outside as Martin went out to go to the hospital and he has a 4 x 4 so took him down and brought them back. Apparently the ambulance got stuck on the way to the hospital and had to have a 4 x 4 to pull them out, which went into the ambulance.

How worrying for the children to be going across the road What a Face I couldn't have watched them either. I hate it when I see children in danger, I feel responsible for them Rolling Eyes
