Might not be about for next few days
Got my BIG day tomorrow
I go in for my steroidal injection into the spine
I am only in for the day but from what I hear it can take quite a while to get over, what seems to be, the inevitable side effects
Hopefully it will releive some of the pain I am in and thereby allow me to walk better but seemingly nothing is being promised
Hope to catch up with you all soon
LOTS of love

Re: Might not be about for next few days
Good luck Aunty Sadie, hope it isn't to uncomfortable or painful
Re: Might not be about for next few days
Good luck, but if the others that I know who have had this are anything to go by, you won't be needing the duckmobile for much longer
Only advice I can give is to have total bed rest for 24 hours after having it to enable it to work properly. I did the first time with my knees and the results were amazing, I only had 15 hrs rest this time and it didn't work any where near as well as before. Guess they tell you these things for a reason hehe . I have the same injection administered in my knees but don't need the epidural with it as I just dig my hands in the doctors arm instead
hehe.
Good luck

Re: Might not be about for next few days
Hi folks and thankyou all very much for your good wishes
THAT was NOT a nice experience at all!!!
Still in quite a bit of pain and in bed
The staff were BRILLIANT and in between the pain I had quite a laugh with the theatre staff
The surgeon was not very hopeful of it working as he had a LOT of trouble trying to get the fluid into my spine and couldn't get any down the right-hand side at all
All he kept saying was that it was far too narrow
I was quite put out as I couldn't watch the procedure on the screen as the surgeon was (I was lying on my stomach) but was quite taken aback, excuse the pun, when the nurse asked what accident I was in that caused it!!!!
But in a queer way it was re-assuring after all that time of being told that I had nothing wrong with my back and I was suffering from ME
I am not, in any way, belittling those suffering from ME, far from it but it is quite different from spine damage
And I sincerely apologise if it seems that way
We shall wait and see if any pain relief happens
I have been told my days of highland dancing are well over Cubbie but thanks for the thought
Jenny, my dearest, I think we have our wires crossed on the type of jab
This was an injection of steroids into the epidural nerve under theatre conditions
No option of where to have it, unfortunately
And the poor nurse's hands were grabbed quite a few times, poor girl
I have been told that my spine is far too damaged for me to walk properly again so I am afraid the Duckmobile is here to stay
Oh......... good news on that front.. While I was in hospital Alan went to the Mobility shop as the man there said he had a spare second-hand motor
He gave us a whole new (second-hand buggy) with 6 months warranty for 6 months for £100
So I now have a full blue working Duckmobile and a red front end
Mix and match
Louie (sorry for the spelling) thankyou very much for the card, I shall treasure it
My only regret is that I didn't get to meet you but Alan tells me Jimmy gave you a barking welcome
I received the card a few hours later when I woke up
That's about it folks, has taken me ages to type this so I doubt if I will be able to answer anyone online just now
Just one more special posting to put on which I hope you all like
Hope to watch Moovision tomorrow

Re: Might not be about for next few days
Honest Jayne no-one can find the front door!
We were never allowed to use the front door either
That was just for posh folk though I can never remember many posh folk visiting, well apart from the Parish Priest, the Doctor and our rich Aunties from Canada
You were talked about if you used the front door..........ideas above your station

Re: Might not be about for next few days
Sadie, I hope you are feeling a lot better now, sorry I was away and didn't know about your injection. Glad to hear the duckmobile is back on the road Just make sure you rest well before going for a spin.
Re: Might not be about for next few days
Thanks Jacky
I hope you enjoyed your time away
If the results are anything to go by so far then if anything I am in more pain
I know it is early days but the kind of painkillers I am on would knock an elephant out and the pain is still getting through BIG time
I really think he damaged a nerve
I know there was a gasp from one of the nurses at on his final attempt of the operation. He was trying to get the fluid down the right side, and my left leg went into the most awful spasm of pins and needles I have ever felt
There was a tangible silence straight after this!
The pressure on my left leg from the injection into the epidural nerve of the steroid (not anaesthetic, as is used in the normal epidural procedure) was something I would not wish on my worst enemy
The spine was so compacted he couldn't get the fluid down my right-hand side
It would have been worth it if it had reduced the swelling, thereby reducing the pain but even throughout the whole procedure all he kept saying was that there was no room!
Sorry to be such a moan but I am so disappointed and I can barely walk now
Never mind, I know there are others far worse than myself but it is getting me down

Re: Might not be about for next few days
Well I pray it will all sort itself out soon for you. I have had this pain in my lower back for about a month now, not continual but nagging all the same and that is now getting me down, but it is nothing like you are experiencing so I thank my lucky stars. All the best
