Re: Thursday morning
Good morning all, late start on here this morning, didnt dare put the computer on until I had finished Ians card, will take a photo when the glue has dried Martin is at golf again this morning so I took the opportunity of cleaning the kitchen floor too without anyone there to walk over it - then let the dog out she managed to jump over the door mat on her way in, as I put a smaller one there for the time being while the other one is being washed I think I nearly got a virus on FB the other day, was in the middle of planting seeds and the screen changed with a warning that I need to download some virus checker. I called Martin, as everything is different on my new computer, and he said I have a virus checker and didnt need it so cancel it. I pressed cancel and it immediately started downloading something - luckily Martin just shut down the computer and no damage was done then did a virus check on it but there was nothing there.
Lou hope you are well and not covered in bruises Hope your back is a bit better today Andrea, and sending hugs and positive vibes once more to Jayne, hugs to you too Jan - hope it is good news today Hugs to all the poorlies out there again today and their carers too

Re: Thursday morning
Good afternoon ladies. It's been snowing here all afternoon and at the moment we have about an inch on the ground.
Only one more day and Michaela comes home from Wales then the peace will be shattered. Isn't it funny how one less child in the house makes so much difference to the noise/fighting.
((((HUGS)))) to all the poorlies
Have a good evening

Them were the days when children were children ............
I think I grew up just in the right years, I wouldnt want to be our children now, with their children

Got to agree with you there Janet - everything was so innocent - just lots of time for playing and didnt have the problems the children of today have.
Re: Thursday morning
My parents didn't want a TV at home so it was the late 60s before we got one. Used to go to a friends house to watch Doctor Kildare.....swoon, swoon!
Re: Thursday morning
I'm another who thinks that I was lucky to grow up in the best time ever Children were allowed to be children and enjoy a natural life; we had the best music EVER; we experienced life without a TV, went out to play, saw the first man land on the moon, discovered computers, equal rights for women, brilliant guys like JFK, Martin Luther King, etc etc I am very happy to have been born and grown older in the era that I did
Re: Thursday morning
Too right!
Did you see that news item about kids today being so tired because they go to bed so late (many 9 year olds going to sleep after 10.00pm) and they spend so much time in their rooms watching TV, playing video games, surfing the net (unsupervised) or using mobiles instead of winding down and going to sleep at a reasonable time.
I'm glad we didn't have all that technology to distract us. I was happy to go to bed before 8.00 with a good book and my hot water bottle! I love my PC but don't let it keep me from a good night's sleep.
I'm glad my granddaughters don't have TVs in their rooms and are rationed to 1/2 hour in the morning before school while mummy gets showered and dressed and the occasional programme before tea. Evenings are spent with mummy and daddy - reading, doing homework or playing games together as a family. Films and video games (Wii) are for weekends only during term time. They prefer swimming, riding bikes, scooters and skipping to being in doors even in the winter. The weather really does make a difference and i feel sorry for British kids at this time of year.

Re: Thursday morning
Oh ladies I am so glad you agree, life was a lot better, it is wonderful to have all this new technology? I think that how you spell it, but I sure we were a lot happier
Re: Thursday morning
I had to be in bed by 9.00 every night until I left school On a Sunday night we all had a bath and washed our hair ready for school the next day - then sat in our nightclothes and watched Sunday night at the Palladium, then off to bed and lights out immediately. I shared a room with my 2 sisters and the 2 boys had the other room so even when we were older we couldn't read in bed as the younger one had to go to sleep. I make up for it now, can't sleep unless I have read some pages first but it takes me for ever to read a book as I can't concentrate downstairs if anything else is going on
Re: Thursday morning
My mum made me be indoors at 10-00 every night even to right up to the day before I married Dick and he wasnt aloud in the house after that time
The good old days?
I had a few extra privileges once I reached 18. I even got an extention to midnight a couple of times for parties but Dad insisted on collecting me - a bit embarrassing but luckily the rules were relaxed once I met Clive (3 years later) and we got engaged.
Clive shared a flat with a workmate when he came up from Portsmouth but once we were 'going steady' he used to stay at our house on a Saturday night. Mum gave him Saturday lunch before his afternoon football match for the Bank's 1st 11 and he hadn't the heart to tell her it made him ill. He still hates mine with mashed potatoes and peas!
He slept in the little spare room and, as my parents were both very light sleepers, there was certainly no chance of even a tiny bit of hanky panky - not that I would have dared
