Morning everyone. It's freezing cold here. Last night Michaela and I went up to look around the local high school and it's very impressive. She has another one to look around in 10 days time then she has to make up her mind which one she prefers so that I can get her option form returned to County Hall Smile

Not doing much today. Have a nice day whatever you are doing Smile Smile

Afternoon ladies...

Had a busy morning.. went into town with my Mum this morning. She had to have a retinopathy/eye test. I also saw some frames that I liked - so next week when I have a bit more time, will go in to sort out another pair for myself. That test took the best part of an hour, so I managed to get done what I had to.
Sun is out, but its still a bit cool.
Dont forget that the Dancing starts tonight at 8.00 pm... will have to tape tomorrows programme as X Factor is on at the same time.
Well I better go... no cupboard cleaning today!!!
Have a lovely day, take care and thank you for all your support.
Oh and Andrea.... dont spend too much!!!!

Been to shops and stocked up on milk for Roy! Considering putting the heating on as I'm really cold. Decided to give Sandown a miss as back still not 100% and will miss Ally pally next week as Roy will be in hospital. Never mind - think of all the money I'm saving!

I fancy the idea of the hot foiling wizard after seeing what Joanna Sheen did with hers, but not sure if I would use it enough to buy one. You lucky thing Jacky Smile I have done a similar version by embossing an image and putting foil on to the hot embossing quickly then taking it off and it leaves a foiled image but looks like a distressed one Smile This was the one I did

doesn't really show it off properly but I'm sure you'll get what I am babbling on about he he Smile

I'm going to find my resistance waning when I can see it demonstrated in a show, I can just feel the resistance falling down he he

I haven't seen Joanna Sheen use it. I have only seen it at shows and the last time at Newbury I almost bought it but I had spent so much that day I resisted then regretted it. This time I went straight there first Laughing Laughing I was telling the man I used to work with that I was thinking of getting one and he said he resisted getting one at Newbury too and told his wife as they were heading to the car that he wished he had got one, so he phoned up when he got home and bought it over the phone Laughing Laughing He says he uses his a lot Very Happy

Lovely card Jen Very Happy

I didn't know what a hot foiling wizard looked liked but thought it would be the same type of process that we do at work but obviously we have large presses.

Your new toy looks great Jacky but for those that want a cheaper option I found a posting on another forum.

You can acheive the same effect with a black laser printer or anything that has been photocopied, foils and a travel iron.
Just rub on foils over the black image/text, put a sheet of copy paper on top and use the iron on low.
Its the toner that it is used in these processes which make the foil stick to it and even if you did the photocopies a while back the foil will still stick to it once heated up.

I haven't tried it yet but its worth a go Very Happy

They had one of those at the show too Di, but it means getting a laser printer, doesnt work with inkjet. Had a go with a sheet I had photocopied and stuck to some bits and not others. The wizard is just like a small soldering iron with a stylus on the end to draw with - you use it with traced images or stencils. I tried it with the encaustic art stylus but it's not easy to be accurate as you hold it too far up so resorted to paying the money for the smaller one. Very Happy

I hadn't thought of using the encaustic art tools, doh it would have saved me lots of rather hot experiences doing it my way he he.

Just a thought, as I'm no expert, but it seems a waste of a good nesting box not to have it in use. We always have tits in our boxes since we relocated ours, after gleaning, I think from an RSPB book, that boxes are best facing East. It could be coincidence, but it's worked for us, so may be worth considering. Smile Good luck for next year.

Lexie, it is like a soldering iron which you use over the hot foiling sheets for writing or drawing. I have made a card and put it in my gallery Very Happy
