Morning! Half way through the week Smile

Hope everyone is well... our weather today hasnt decided what it wants to do yet! Bit grey and overcast, but I dont want it getting too cold... our heating has decided to pack up Sad Have phoned the plumber, we all know how difficult it is getting hold of plumbers!!
Made a start on my christmas cards yesterday... I made 1 lol!!! Well I did get interrupted, have made all my October birthday cards... and thought I would make a start on the christmas ones... but the little boy I look after came in the afternoon... so that put paid to any cardmaking. Day off again on Friday, so will start again then.

Well off now to get a coffee... and wait by the phone!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your heating Karen. Why does it always happen that the heating goes wrong as soon as you start to need to use it. Mad I think it's where it has been left idle all summer and then things start sticking. My brother-in-law is a plumber but he hasn't got time at this time of the year to come to us if we have a problem. He talks Martin through on the phone on what to do Shocked It does worry me though. Hope ours is ok this year silent

Morning Jayne

I am fine thank you, glad you are feeling a little better, the shower might help with the breathing Smile I am off this afternoon to the U3A Craft Group. It is the first time and the lady who said I should join has now told me that I will probably be leading the group as I know more than most of them Shocked I don't mind helping but I'm not a leader Embarassed Will see how things work out Rolling Eyes

Afternoon ladies. What a vile day! Been pouring down since about 11am. Had an early start to get Roy to doctor's for 8am. His cellulitis hasn't improved. Now got another course of antibiotics- different ones- and anti histamine as he has had terrible itching after taking the last lot of antibiotics. Told him he should go back -only taken about 2 weeks for him to do it. Apparently he must have had a delayed allergic reaction! Went home for breakfast after doctors then to Forest Lodge. I want to get an olive tree for eldest son's birthday next month, but the ones they had did not look brilliant so will be doing a tour of all the other garden centres during rest of week.

Which U3A do you go to Jacky? I belong to the Fleet one and go to the reading group and pilates so far. I was going to join the French group but they were halfway through the course so decided to wait until they started again. They do have a couple of cardmaking groups so may try one of those after Christmas.

Hope you get your heating sorted soon Karen. I have a Service contract on mine just in case!

Hope you're feeling a bit better soon Jayne.

hubby looked into doing this last year... and now wished we had done it Mad Think its something that will have to be considered, the last time we had this problem we had a bill for £200 at Christmas - could have done without it, but what do you do when you want warmth!!! Either that or I will have to do a course in plumbing!! next thing will be ordering oil for the winter... never ending!

I joined the Camberley U3A Sue, we are doing the walking - 5mile walk once a month, and I am doing the craft group twice a month. It was really nice, the ladies there were lovely - I think most crafters are Laughing We were doing our own thing today but next week a lady is showing us how to do an aperture card with an extra bit in the middle. Have seen it before I think in a magazine but haven't done one before. The ladies who didn't bring anything did Iris Folding.

Hope you are feeling a bit better Jayne, and good luck with your heating Karen. Cally GOUT ?? I must admit I thought I might be getting it a few months back Rolling Eyes Well done with your Christmas Cards - I keep starting and I think I have finished 2 but several others partly finished. Doing a production line Laughing

Can I have a really dumb moment? jocolor
What is a U3A club? scratch scratch

Karen I really hope that you get your heating sorted soon
It is starting to get quite cold
I am so pleased we got our system updated
The old one was 30 years old affraid
And the boiler was over 20 years old!

Cally you have my sympathy
Alan had a mild attack of gout a while back and it was painful
Seemingly orange juice can aggravate it so maybe you had better take tonic in your gin lol! lol! lol!
All joking aside Alan says you have his sympathy

Christmas cards santa rendeer .....I have one and a half done
One I did months back and the other has progressed over the weeks Rolling Eyes

U3A is University of the Third Age

The Third Age Trust is the national representative body for the Universities of Third Age (U3As) in the UK. U3As are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives for older people no longer in full time work, providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.

The Fleet group is trying to start up a weekend club to do walks, visits, lunches etc for those people who are on their own and feel isolated at weekends. Thought that was a really good idea.
