Freezing Friday !!

Good Morning my lovlies ,very early here , but nervous have set in now and can't sleep! I worried about the roads and getting to Gatwick Park, you know all the usual middle of the night worries, crazy things always seem soo much worse in the nigh , can't even have a cuppa to help as Iam nil by mouth since midnight ! Nothing planned for today what with the snow still being here and more came down last night , looks like the schools will stay closed for the safety reasons. Morning... no snow for us overnight - but its . 5.4 this morning. Forecasters have predicted more snow for the East Midlands later today.
My Asda delivery got through last night - which I am pleased about as it had drinks and nibbles in for my Mums little 80th party on Monday - had to cancel the Restaurant yesterday - bit upset as I know Mum was so looking forward to it.
Have arranged for a big cake for her, dont quite know how I am going to collect it yet - the lady lives on a hill and Keith cant drive in this weather.
Amys school is closed again today, but the Primary which is just up the road is still open!!
Keith is off to the dentist again today, but going on the bus - then later he has to go for physio - but I have a feeling that will be cancelled.

Good morning ladies, sun out here again this morning but still no sign of a thaw. Our road is still thick with snow as people can't get out of the estate. If you come in the other side of the estate it is a really steep hill. They say the main roads are clear so people should go to work but if they can't get out of their homes what are they supposed to do Good Luck today Lexie, Karen so glad you got your Asda delivery, we just saw a vegetable delivery van manage to go past our house and thought that may be a solution to no veg in the supermarket. Hope the cake turns up for your Mum. I am sure she will enjoy her day whatever We havent had any post all week. Andrea hope you got all your birthday cards, I sent mine in plenty of time but then it snowed Glad you had a good day. Juli, our schools are still closed - Martins school has asked anyone living locally to the school (parents, pupils or teachers) to take a spade and go and help clear the paths, playground and car park so they can get the school open again. They have a texting system which the parents get msgs from the school by text.

Got some washing to do today and think I had better do a bit of cleaning or Martin will think I never do anything - he is off for a trek with his backpack to see if he can get us some food Have a good day all and stay safe

Just a quick visit this morning. Going to see if I can get car out and will go to Morrisons as all main roads once out of mine. Next door cleared all my drive for me yesterday.

Postman just been as well!! Another 2 birthday cards and a present! Plus a load of junk!!

Cor wish I had a neighbour like that Sue!! I daren't step foot out the door!

So far no snow today, and hooray! for the first time in 25 years the road has been salted! Not a lot, but it has broken the rock-hard surface a little, and IF we don't get the snow that's been forecast for later it could make a lot of difference to making it up the hill. At lunch tomorrow I'm supposed to be meeting candidates for the rector's job at our church, but don't know if I shall make it. They won't miss me, and it's seven miles away and I'm a complete coward about driving on bad roads, besides my car will be 19 years old next month and doesn't have all mod cons. (I love it though, it has been and still is, a good friend.) Lunch will just be a few sarnies, but it's a chance to get a peek at who's on offer, and we're asked to let the Archdeacon know if we have any comments (Presumably about the candidates, not the sarnies ).

Never mind, I'm sure they'll choose a sincere, handsome young man who'll charm us all to goodness - and also I believe the temperature is going to raise dramatically overnight, the resultant melted snow will be washed away and the sun shining on us all when we get up in the morning . Who wants to be a realist when you can live in hope?

Well Martin got the last 2 loaves in the shop but plenty of milk and potatoes thank goodness. We should be able to eat for another week now Hope you got to the shops Sue, we have been watching the cars trying to get up our road. One Kitchen Fitter van went past our house and a few minutes later went past again We watched him go so far then he reversed all the way back down again, 6 times. He stopped outside our house at one point and Martin spoke to him. Apparently they had gone up the hill no problem first time, went past the house they were supposed to work on so carried on down the steep hill the other end of the road and went around again, but the second time around they couldn't get up again. Managed in the end, I think they must have warmed the snow up with all their attempts

We havent had any post all week and I have been waiting for a cartridge for my Cricut which was posted last Tuesday which I ordered off ebay. No use to me this year as it's a Christmas one

Well, we did get the snow we were warned about, so I think I shall not be giving the potential rectors the once-over tomorrow. Why is it they get it right when they forecast horrid weather, but not when they tell us it will be a heatwave? Our postie has done well, although we haven't had any post today and I'm eager for parcels. I have two orders to come from QVC (foam stamps and Victorian toppers), and one each from Readicut (Carol Wilson set, I already have one and love it!), and C&C (embossibilities CD, only ordered today but I'm eager to see what that turns out like) all ordered at different times, but they may all arrive together if the couriers don't get through soon! Christmas all over again, I'd really prefer them to arrive separately, but can't complain .

It's time I put the kettle on for a cuppa and then I'm off to bed. For the last couple of days I've been putting on a generous splurge of hand-cream under white cotton gloves overnight, and my wash-day-red hands feel much nicer. I look a bit like Al Jolson, but there's only my hubby to see me, and I think he's past being surprised now! 'Night.

I did get to Morrisons Jacky. Roads weren't too bad but car park was nightmare. Some spaces had been cleared but nowhere near enough and cars parked all over the place. Drove round 5 times and was just about to give up when one pulled out just in front of me so grabbed it quickly!
