Steaming Saturday Empty Steaming Saturday

Post  poppytree Sat Nov 05, 2011 8:59 am

Went to a Ladies Breakfast (for about 150) at Church this morning - great food, good company and thought provoking speakers. Nice to get out on my own for once! Then off to the Le Cornu (Huge furniture warehouse) sale to buy a cheap sofa for the family room - chocolate brown sofa/chaise. Finally spent an hour sitting under a shadey tree by the beach at Glenelg. Its very 'steamy' today and the temperature reached 34!

This is an old photo - the beach was heaving with people today

Glad you are home now Lou and hope Jacky has had a good time away. Off for a little nap before pizzas tonight (home made on a pizza stone on the BBQ - Paul's Saturday night specia)l.

They don't do fireworks here - hope the weather holds for any displays in the UK - used to enjoy the Brockham one but had to walk miles so usually sat on Boxhill to see it.

Morning all.
A quick one from me this morning.

I was up early as I had to go for my flu jab at 8.15am. I then came back and made my Christmas cake. Its in the oven now and the house is beginning to smell lovely.
I have a friend coming round in half an hour, she is by herself today, so you never know, we might actually do some crafting done as well as talking Smile

Afternoon...

Its not very nice here today - typical Bonfire Night weather. Fog hasnt really cleared and its cool out.
Been down to see Mum, usually go in the afternoon...but got her some new underwear yesterday and a couple of new jumpers, so thought I would go earlier rather than later.
She wasnt too good today, didnt want to talk to me. Left her having a sleep.
She has 2 pairs of slippers, and I have a spare pair here... but this morning she was wearing socks, no slippers and only one shoe in her room:?:
A few fireworks went off last night, but think the weather put a bit of a dampener on the night. Looks like its going to be the same sort of night.
I wondered what the ladybird alert was!
Enjoy your day xx

lol! oh Janet that is the second \'ladybird alert\' you have done in two days Laughing

Hope the rain stays off tonight for all the firework displays - I don't like them so I will be at home keeping Callie company while Ian, Ruth & Martin go to the school up the road for a display. Sally is going to a different one this year. I will have the food ready when they return - unless Callie manages to get to it Laughing

Karen, I don't know how these homes lose all the belongings, I know my Uncle is in a nursing home - he had a stroke and it left him blind and can't get around easily - and his trousers, underwear etc. all disappeared. My Aunt, his sister, was forever replacing things. My sister worried me this morning - she's not very good with her phone so just put an abbreviated msg. on FB saying Mum was in bed, door locked, doctor been and she was going for tablets affraid I tried phoning her at her house but she wasn't there so phoned my other sister and she didn't know what was happening either as she had just got back from shopping. Turns out that when my sister went to take Mum's paper this morning she was complaining she couldn't walk as he ankle was too painful so she put her back to bed as it would be easier to use the commode by the bed than walk all the way to the loo from the lounge. The doctor came and thought it was the beginning of an infection so has prescribed antibiotics. Too top it all, my BIL was in agony this morning too, so she had to deal with both of them. The msg. on FB was to alert the nephews/nieces etc not to go round to Mum's as they wouldn't be able to get in.

The machine Martin was looking at I think, was http://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewing/Pazzles-Inspiration-Electronic-Cutter/3128643/product.html?cid=133635 but I think it had more as this one doesn't say it's for cakes too as the demonstrator had only just got it himself.

I know a lady that has one of these, and she swears by it, best thing since sliced bread according to her.

Its an awful lot of money though isn't it?

It is a lot of money but you don't have to buy any more dies, cartridges etc to add to the cost but I like to just stick the die in and turn the handle - I think the software would completely confuse me. I have the Cricut and hardly ever use it as I have never got the cartridge I need for what I am doing and they are so expensive to buy.

If you remember jacky I got the Craft robo which is like a baby version of the pazzles. I don't use it very much as I found it was difficult to get the settings right for the card I was using and the carrier sheets lost their sticky very quickly. They then brought out new software and I found that better. Now they have brought a new machine out called the Cameo that does 12 x 12.! Because I was struggling I bought the Cricut and I use that so much more mainly because I can have it on the floor and it doesn't need to be plugged into the computer

It could have been the Cameo Sue, I didn't take much notice as I realised it would be beyond me Laughing it did take 12 x 12 though.
