Knowing I get credits only JSA when I was ill last year the Job Centre advised to to apply for Incap Benefit, that is contributions based as well so wasn't entitled to that either, they just dont have a clue when they tell you what to apply for, better to find out from alternative sources like CAB.

Lou, sorry you are feeling so down. I hate forms of any sort Mad When Mum was claiming a practice nurse came and helped her fill in the forms. She asked Mum questions like do you need help making your bed. Mum just said No my daughter does it Laughing Laughing But the nurse said "so you can't do it yourself so I will put No". If Mum had been filling it in, she wouldn't have got anything Laughing Laughing She just relies on my poor sister.

I hate to say this but DWP are not always as helpful as they could be. My mother got attendance allowance but it stops if you are in hospital. When she moved from hospital to a care home it should have started again but when I rang them they ignored the call. Second call they said I had to fill the forms in again but never got them. Third call I got the forms but they wouldn't backdate it to when she moved. The man on the phone said I should have applied before she left hospital, when I asked why they hadn't told me this and that it was their fault it needed backdating he said ---" We are not allowed to tell you how to claim" I was speechless! No wonder people don't get all they are entitled to.

Best bet go to CAB for advice.

That is really bad Sue, especially when its an elderly person. We have a neighbour who is always coming to us to ask us how to fill forms in - same age as us but not very literate and has trouble reading never mind filling in complicated forms Mad They don't make things easy that's for sure.

How are you getting on with your parchment things you bought at the show Sue Very Happy

Hi Janette,

Thanks for the advice hun......

I have completed the forms now.... I also received confirmation of my hospital stay in May so I put that in for good measure Laughing

I must admit I only looked into DL because someone on here and another forum suggested it to me... I have no idea what else I can do.... I am very green at claiming for anything!!!

Louise... good luck with the claim.. you want to claim everything you possibly can. Mum had to put a claim in a few years ago, its like getting blood out of a stone - and the questions????? However, hope all goes well for you xx

I know its a day late but good luck with the claim Lou and you managed way better than I ever did with my first one. It was approx 60 pages long and each and every page details what you can no longer do and is so negative that the first time I filled one in I got as far as page 3, wrote in "stick it where the sun doesn't shine as I don't need the money this badly" !! and took it in to their office. They informed me that the length of the form and the questions asked are meant to deter time wasters, but the only people who are deterred are the ones who are genuinely ill as the fraudsters think its a laugh. They made an appointment for me with CAB and they helped me fill it in. My health problems are incurable and degenerative, yet I have to go through it every 3 years, because apparently I may have had a miracle cure that is not even being researched into at the moment !!!
I found out that I should have been claiming it since I was 40 yrs old but that they weren't allowed to make me aware of that fact, I'm now 56, so a fair bit of money lost Sad Nowadays I just repeat what was on the original form, let them know that I still have the problems, they are getting worse but my coping strategies are helping me mentally. However, I might change my mind on that as psychiatric claimants get more money than physically disabled he he. You'll all vouch for my insanity won't you?

Well done Lou for filling in the form and you can now go back to the positive mental attitude that is helping you cope Smile Hugs
