Morning!

Quite a sharp frost this morning, hope my little cactus has survived always put them on the patio for summer but have forgotten to bring him in.

Well today, if you're passing by Tuxford... christmassy aromas will be coming from my house. I am making my christmas cake today.
So mulled wine and mince pies on the agenda lol!!!!

Washing dried nicely yesterday, have just done another 2 loads... I honestly dont know where it all comes from!

Have a lovely day, take care

Morning Smile Yes its a crispy one here too today. I'm so pleased that its dry for the half term though as the children had a rough deal with the summer holidays.

I'm close to bubbling over with excitement at the moment. It was like Christmas day in my house yesterday I had 4 lots of goodies delivered. A very kind friend sent me a package of goodies; my monthly Artylicious club goodies arrived; the pack of 4 stamps I bought from QVC during their craft theme week arrived and £150 of Joanna Sheen goodies arrived, I've been very lucky and will tell you all later about it. To top it all off I have the one and only craft show in Cardiff on Thursday-Sat this week and I've got tickets for the 1st two days and on the Saturday I have my little grand-daughters again. WOW what a week this is he he Smile I feel like walking about singing "I'm in heaven" he he Smile

Down to earth for a moment Smile Hugs and positive vibes for all that need today I'm off to have a play with my new toys soon he he

Very crispy here today but lovely sunshine. Love these mornings. Waiting for my sister, BIL and great nephew this morning. They are usually very early but she has just phoned to say they are leaving for the second time. They had to go back to pick up something they had forgotten Very Happy Wow Jen what a week you are going to have, just don't overdo it so you can't get to the show Very Happy All these Christmas Cakes being made, tempted to try my hand this year. The last time I made a Christmas Cake was when I was at school Embarassed Embarassed As I live away from the rest of the family we have never been at home for Christmas until last year - and my DIL bakes the most beautiful cakes Very Happy

We have a greengrocers about 7 miles from here
and they do all the dried fruit, its all fresh if you
know what I mean and you only buy what you need
and the flavour is way better then the packet fruit.
I havent made a cake in about 5 years so lets hope
it turns out ok Laughing

That sounds really good Jayne. We bought some things from a farm shop when we were down by Chichester and the taste was just so different. My son told me yesterday that a new greengrocers has opened in Frimley Green, just down the road from us, and it is all farm fresh. Will try it out and see if they do the dried fruit too Very Happy

I have nothing against dried fruit in packets some are really good
but fresh as you said Jacky tastes so much better, and once it
has a good slug of brandy poured on it will taste even better Laughing

The Christmas cake I make is the boiled cake, a bit like the one that Prince Charles raved about and has delivered from Carmarthen Smile Its so much easier and the fruit plump up wonderfully and best thing it can be made a day or two ahead rather than months ahead Smile Happy Christmas cake making ladies Smile

Morning all, very cold here but very sunny, the outlaws have gone home this morning at least having them here we have been able to get out and about as our car is off the road for what seems like the millionth time, had to be towed back from Folkestone by the AA last Thursday and what with everything else it is very low on the list of importence at the moment getting it fixed.
On a brighter note I was discharged from the hospital yesterday, so was very nice of Mikes parents to stay an extra day so they could take us the 30 odd miles over to Margate for my 3 minute appointment, we were going to go by bus and I would have been a little more than peeved if we had spent about 4 hours travelling for 3 minutes with the consultant. Saw the dietician yesterday as well and she said I was a gold star pupil because of the changes etc I have made to my diet and lifestyle since being diagnosed with diabetes Smile
Have finished the birthday girls card and have posted it so it is on the way Smile
All this talk of Christmas cake is making me hungry but still isn't making me feel anymore festive lol!

Sounds like you are going to have a great week Jen -don't overdo it will you?

Think I'll give the Christmas cake a miss this year as its just the 2 of us.
Mind you, that boiled cake sounds interesting. Could you PM me with the recipe?

Might buy a Stollen or Panetone from M&S for a treat
Hope the car gets through the MOT this time Jayne
Glad all the hospital visits are over and results OK.

would be interested in that too Jen Smile dietician said yesterday when baking just add 1/2 the sugar because all it's there for really is sweetening so doesn't affect recipes to badly using less, which is a bonus Smile

Road outside a bit 'crunchy' and layer of snow on the grass. Bitterly cold all day. Off to bed to warm up

It is rare that we get snow here in Portsmouth but i had to go to a meeting on Wednesday in East London and i drove up there - no way could i take the train & walk, just walking to my train station would of made me in pain all day .

Anyway for those who may know the A3 from Portsmouth to London as i was going through Liphook, Hindhead and also Guildford there was snow and very thick all along the roadside & on the tree's and didn't it look nice. I was so tempted to stop & take pics but i was running late as it was through the traffic so i didn't bother.

Did anyone else get snow this past week?
